I collected my new VXR 2-weeks ago tomorrow. From new and up to about 600 miles I had a really bad shudder back through the steering when braking from anything ovr 85mph. However, it now seems okay - the car having now covered 1300 miles. I think the brakes have now bedded in okay. However, I don't think they are man enough and feel an AP brake upgrade is going to happen soon. Hope this helps
From ESP I assume you mean traction control? If so the Monaro (6.0ltr) has a very simple system that just closes the throttle if it detects wheelspin, there are no links to the throttle pedal as it is drive by wire.
Most/All the current Monaro's for sale have been standing for about a year now and have flat spoted tyres and rusty brake discs.........the tyres do come good again after a 1000 miles or so but might need re balancing!! As for the brakes they seem to sort themself's out after the 1000 miles but not all do so make your dealer aware now so when you come back for new ones he cant blame you for warping them.....

Yes.... my pre reg VXR has flat spots on all 4 tyres.I've done 1300 miles now.
I had them balanced, 2 took a lot a weight, still got a vibration from the rear at 80mph so might see if I can score a couple of new tyres under warranty ??
Brakes are OK, but I've got a Oxygen sensor/heater out now - aparently thats not helped /caused by sitting in a car park in Luton for over a year.

This is all good advice. At 1300 miles the steering and braking on my car has improved. This would suggest that the brakes will bed in after a few miles but I guess the question should be are we likely to find that the discs will "expire" sooner owing to the fact that the cars have stood for a while. My advice is therefore log the complaint and then if you do have a problem later the dealer shouldn't argue!

An interesting read and insight to my problem.
Thanks
Mine rumble a bit when used fairly hard, I've never had a grooved disk setup that didn't.
If it's really bad you could get them skimmed (various places can do this with the disks on the car) and then bed them in again like the article says.
AFAIK the disks on the VXR can be machined a couple of times before they need replacing.

Sorry don't know how to insert those clever boxes.
There seems a very real link to the throttle pedal on my VXR, when the traction cuts in at a slow speed i.e pulling out of a junction and turning, the pedal physically pulls away from my right foot and slaps back when the spin is controlled.
On the same theme, if someone can clarify, I'm sure I read in the owners manual somewhere that the abs system also works in conjuction with the traction to moderate wheel spin. Not at home at the mo so can't look it up again.
Cheers Boyce

Do you have a 5.7ltr VXR or a 6.0ltr one ?
5.7 has a throttle relaxer which closes the throttle via a cable and pulls the peddal away from your foot......
6.0 all the throttle closing is done via the PCM as it is fly by wire.
The traction control is limited to just reducing power it has no link to the brakes.......it is very simple
