No noise.

Just improves the gear change (takes it from a mixing mashed potato to direct gear changes).

I fancy one too.

Are they too precise. Ideally I want something that you can get on with no matter how you drive.

There are two versions of the Ripshifter.

One uses the stock upper lever and is known as the road/street version.
The other (race version) is a one-piece gear-stick:

The race version is a little noisy if using ATF in the T56.

Very precise, but, never a chore. Especially on 6.0 cars.

I found the ripshift to be a very well made and designed product it is almost OEM quaility. As Greens state it does transform the driving of the car, it should be the first mod closely followed by an zorst.biglaugh

I understand the shift on the standard CV8 is pretty poor and so really benefits from the ripshifter, but the VXR cars are slighty better anyway. So does the ripshifter improve the CV8 shift beyond that of the VXR's, and if so, if one was fitted to the VXR would the to shifts be the same ? if that make any sense.

I think the answer to your question is yes and yes.

The VXR shifter is slightly better than the CV8 shift, both the CV8 and VXR drastically improved by adding a Ripshifter.

It improves it way beyond a VXR shifter! VXR shifter is a slightly better poor shifter, not a good one.
