Getting it today......

Hi Chaps
Thanks for your replies. I'll stick some pics up over the next few days (although it is just a normal red VXR so nothing special to see!). It isn't a 500 either! 400 is plenty for me to be getting on with :-)
Neil - thanks for the info on what to check following it being stood around for ages. How did you find out it's manufacturing date by the way? I expected that it would have been stood in a lot for a while, but it is nice to know what to check.
How do you tell if your tyres have flat spots from being stood? Is it as simple as feeling it through the sterring wheel when moving? If so then I think I'm fine. What specifically to look for on the brakes - no shudder or anything for me yet - but only driven 50 miles so far - and not fast either....
The 'Check Engine' thing is more interesting. I've already had one of those when I started it up yesterday. I'll check it out with the dealer when they have it in over the next few weeks for its initial check that they do. (Bellingers Wantage - very impressed).
General question - running in. The manual says 3/4 revs for the first 600 miles. Is that OK or is there something different that is generally accepted to be the best thing?
Thanks
Steve

Like with all new cars nowadays, let the engine warm up to its optimum temperature by not revving too hard. Then once its heated up. Wragg the arse off it
The best way in my experience is to drive a car in your normal fasion from day one. Thats the best way to loosen up the engine properly.

What happens at the National Meet? Do we all just get free tickets and watch the racing, or do we have a special parking place, chat, and watch some racing?
I admit I normally go to these race meets on my bike so that I don't get caught in the traffic too badly....but if there is something more than just a free ticket to the races I might join.

The build date is on a HSV plaque under the bonnet in front of the radiator.
The flat spots on the tyres just cause the usual steering wheel wobbly/general vibration you get with out balance wheels/tyres. When I had them balanced you could see the top of the tyre going up and down. I've done 1400 miles and they are still not right.
My car is going to Pentagon Derby on tuesday for the Oxygen sensor/heater hopefully to be replaced.
My cars brakes are fine, but others on here have had problems

nice one btw steve on picking one up.
If I had known only 3 months ago that vauxhall would drop them to 26k new, I'd have waited but as it is I love the versitility of my boot!
Welcome to what is possibly the best car you can buy for value and options. OK I'm biased but the car is possibly the best package you can get for the price
