After coming from one of the best cars I've driven for feedback, the 350z (yes the nissan!), I think that the one thing thats really letting things down on the ro is the feedback in the steerng - and its response. Sure I know the ro is heavy but its actually no heavier than the 350z. Obviously with beefier suspension it will improve things but the steering still feels a bit light and too slow. Is there a way of getting it close to the Zed?

Suspension is a given but is there a quicker steering rack available with perhaps a less assisting power pump?

That has been one of the things that didn't click with me either on the Monaro ( compared to my old HSV). The rack seems much slower and made the car feel heavier and more cumbersome in my limited hands. I spoke to Paul at Wortec about this and he confirmed that the Monaro rack is a slower rack than on the original 4 door HSVs.Maybe worth a chat with him or Duncan to investigate the possibilities ?

Funny I was talking to Roger at Monkfish about this earlier today. He has a replacement steering rack with the GTS ratio. You need to be careful as a GTS rack wont go straight in. Contact Roger at Monkfish Performance for more details. You may wont to invest in an aftermarket power steering cooler also to help with feel.

Hi just bought a VXR and got to say i`m with you regards steering speed.
Does anyone know if this problem was addressed on the vxr8 and if the rack fits the `ro`

Steering feel can be improved with some careful suspension re-alignment in conjunction with some strategically placed poly bushes. However, the only way to speed it up is with a GTS style rack. If there is sufficent demand we could do it.

cheers, I think the rack should come at the very end of a list of things to do. Alas with process of moving house I've just passed up on some vxr suspenders but tbh the stock set up is quite nice as is for my driving and no matter what I do it will never get the same feel as the Zed. I know the rack and suspension setup will have greatly helped the zed but I think it is shorter in wheel base too (likely!) even still, it too was a long car
