VE vs BMW vs Merc review for your pleasure
Discussion
Interesting review. One thing I don't understand (as a non-Australian) is why they don't point out anywhere that the price difference isn't entirely fair, since the European imports are taxed differently to the domestic product?
Seems a bit unfair on the Europeans to me, I have to say, not taking anything away from the general accomplishedness of the VE of course. I can believe that it is indeed nearly as good as the BMW and Merc, but then it should be as if they were fairly matched from a taxation perspective it would cost nearly as much. Or am I entirely misunderstanding something here?

Surely consumers are concerned about overall after tax value for money. Since the reduction (or is it now abolition) of luxury car tax the tax effect is no where near as great as it used to be.
