...except for a moronic salesman
We were in the local Dodge dealer looking at a Caliber for Mrs Nige and they also had a 300C SRT8 they had in the showroom too.
Could be as a possible Monaro replacement (bear with me)
I looked at it and said I might be interested to replace the Monaro (he didn't know what one of them was) and ya know what he said?
"Don't even think about one of those unless you're going to go racing with it"
WTF??!
:dozey:
I stood there quite incredulous for a while and then I got over myself, got in the car and switched all the switches and moved all the levers etc
Arf!
What a knobcheese!
Oh and we didn't buy a Caliber either - went up the road and bought a very nice used Jaguar X type diesel sport in black and were treated like king and queen by the dealer.

Is it available in RHD? I know the lesser models are. Not sure about the V8 ones.
Nige, one of the US forums has an international section where there were a few UK guys.
I know they like buying the "bentley" grills etc.
It might be this one Im not sure www.300cforums.com/forums/

You cheeky bugger, I thought I had lost touch with the V8 Supercars for a minute, till I looked it up...
"The 250kW HEMI-powered V8 Chrysler 300C will stay one step ahead of its Holden and Ford rivals during the V8 Supercar Championship Series and Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series for the second consecutive year, thanks to its role in the Wright Patton Shakespeare (WPS) Safety Car Program.
The stunning Chrysler 300C has also been leading its Holden and Ford rivals off the race track with strong sales performances following the vehicle's launch late last year.
Further delighting performance enthusiasts, a fire-breathing 6.1-litre HEMI V8, 317 kW variant, the 300C SRT-8, will take over as official Safety Car following the vehicle's on sale date in April."

Aye, they're RHD but curiously the RAMs aren't.
Cheers for the link as well.

fine if you want to look like a gangsta rapper but wouldn't touch one of them with a bargepole. Does nothing for me in design or build quality. Would rather drive a Mondeo(!)
I'm not asking you or anyone else to touch it with anything, least of all a bargepole - don't be hurt...

Don't knock em until you've tried one! Totally different car from the 'ro, but with a similar stonking engine.
Yes, I've tried one, they should really be considered as a poor man's Bentley. Hoards of space, hoards of leather, and sounds great (but too quiet on full chat....) No-one knows what they are either!
Yes, I'd have one, but it would have to be in black with the Bentley type grill. £300 or so quid extra, but far nicer than the standard grill.
And if anyone wants to argue with me over my opinion, the boys will be comin' round to see ya! LoL!

Funny, funny,
Been thinking about buying a Caliber in a few months (pending a job), what are you views on it? cvt, manual? cheap car but very different.
As for the V8, one tried to pull away from us last night by Blue water, pulled next to him on a roundabout (they look down at us - well mine is lowered), then he buried it once he got off the roundabout, quick, but not that quick. Old boy did not look happy as we passed him. he he

Caliber - nice enough car if a bit bland.
Interior a bit cheap and plasticky but comfy and lots of room, good price and the diesel we were thinking about is a VW lump of course so no probs there.
Seemed a bit expensive to service at £350 a time (12k intervals though) against the Jag at £250 and 12500 intervals.
In all an ok car but nothing more.

cheers, did you drive the manual or cvt? wife currently has a zafira and lease expires in a few months so need to start thinking about something else. Could maybe lease one for 12 months I guess as a test drive doesn't really show the bad side of a car as you spend most of it adjusting the seat and stuff. Offered a monaro but she just aint interested.
Couldn't get to drive anything unfortunately, they didn't have a test mule.
Can't recommend the Jag diesels enough at the moment though.
Sure it's used as against a new Caliber but price wise there wasn't much in it (ours is a 54 reg estate in black and we paid £15k for it)
Comfy, quiet, leather, climate, 6 cd, heated seats, mirrors & windscreen etc etc the list of extras goes on and on and also 40mpg.

Never understood that...having to wait for a test drive car... I want to be able to drive the car I want to own, not one the looks like it.
In the USA, they usually have a car that ticks all the boxes on your requirements. You test it, you buy it, you drive it away... none of this, test it, order it, wait 8 weeks and a car will eventually be delivered, and there's usually something amiss

What he said
They are far better than you think..........and I have owned Rolls Royce and Bentleys. Had a brilliant week in N. Ireland in one at the end of last year, it sold me on them so much I'm getting rid of my E60 M5 for one. Paul-C said:

I mean respect for owning some truly awesome machines but crikey, it is almost like women and dresses - they can only wear them once
