I hit a pothole today, trashed the tyre, buckled the wheel & the spacesaver won't fit due to brake upgrade.
I had to shell out for a brand new tyre for the buckled alloy just to get me home.

Nightmare furious

Anyone now of any 18" alloys for a 2004 CV8 Monaro going cheap?

Ta in advance.

ETA: Durung my 2 hour wait for the type change, I also noticed that the paint is flaking off the door handles, off to find that thread now....ggrrr

I think this has come up before and, I know its a bit late now, but IIRC, the space saver will fit over the rear brakes so you can probably get by with a front to rear swap.

Sadly no, I did try the rear & whilst the spacesaver fitted onto the hub, the caliper was jamed against the rim. Bummer.

Then I stand corrected.... shame you had to find out the hard way...

At least you'll have a nice wide angle mirror to view to from now (it's in the post) hehe

Yep, they look good, are the rims the same size as mine (i.e. good for 235/40 tyres)?

Out of interest, what did you swap the for?

Flaking paint on the handles should be warranty, give your dealer a call.

I picked up 2 spare 04 cv8 wheels on ebay last week - 125 quid inc carriage for the pair, worth keeping an eye out for similiar bargains.

ringram, those headers were 3 years old. I got 2 recent Street Commodores delivered today and brand new 4 into 1 1 and 3/4" Di Filippo headers in 409 stainless are 895$ Aus + carriage so would be approximately the same price shipped. Benefit of that set on the classifieds was that they came with the matching de-cat pipes which are worth a few quid I'll wager. Downside is they were 3 years into the 5 year warranty offered by Di Filippo. I would have taken them if I could have confirmed they'd bolt onto my Miltek exhaust from LSV but never got chance to take some measurements.

I got some pacemakers from LeSerge anyway... But I think the DiFillipo's are supposed to be better. They have that step in them which is supposed to help torque or something.... I think its possible to go overboard! (hehe).

that was the same as me, I was speaking to LSV and it wasnt clear if they would with the full miltek though am sure Tim or Mark will correct if my understanding was incorrect!

With regard to the pothole you can claim off the local authority don't forget

Depends if its a euphemistic term for "drifted it at 70mph and full opposite lock into the kerb by accident"

The headers are HPC coated not standard. Hope you put VAT and duties into your calculations.

Muggins - was going to respond with some equally witty remark but decided not to waste time on someone with the IQ of a rock.

Smiler - sorry if you thought I was being a smartarse as well but post was only intended to show the kind of price you can expect to pay for a couple of spares. Would have offered to loan/sell you one but they're off being powdercoated.

Smiler.

No probs gents, I'll look into ebay. I think Island Boy HSV's wheels look fave at the mo. Dunno what they'll look like on the Monaro though. The flat profile of the std wheels seems to suit. Life's little challenges eh?
