Couple of Monaro Questions
Discussion
Pretty much agree with ringram here.
Reliability - The only problem I have had in 15 months of owning it is the power steering pipe coming loose
Weekend Car - I pretty much just use mine during the weekend as I can't realistically drive to work, never caused any issues for me.
Prices - Shouldn't fall as fast now but will still depreciate, nobody can really tell what effect the VXR8 will have on prices yet.

Depreciation on a pre reg car has already been taken care of, you can buy one now for about what you`d expect a year old car to be worth.I`ve only had mine for less than a week and in the first day I did 400 miles at av 23.9 mpg (Well I have only just got it!) The cars a little beauty. Beware of spiralling costs when thinking about upogrades, its a minefield out there but there`s a lot of information available especially from the `wise owls` on this forum.
I have had a few issues with my car - all very minor niggles cured (fixed first time) by the Vauxhall dealers. Mechanicals seem very strong, bodyword seems expensive as I had an inch dent caused by a third party costing around £900 to repair at their cost.
Mods are a pain - soooo expensive.

Couple of quick questions -
Whats the reliabilty like on the Monaro?
Would a Manoro be happy being used as a weekend car (garaged)?
Prices. Have they stabilised or are they still falling?
Cheers

relaibility wise they are more BMW than TVR if that makes sense.
it would be fine as a weekend car, but equally as good being driven all day every day
depreciation depends what you buy and what you pay. 50k mile (just run in) 04 cv8's are about for £12k, so i dont see much more than a further £2-£4k of depreciation - whilst on a late pre reg 6L VXR at £27k you might find it drops 12k over the next 3 years.

what benno said really, my ro has tumbled about 2k in the 6 months I've owned it but its a long term keeper of a car - I think once you get one depreciation isnt going to factor into things as the life span (for me) seems at least 5 or more years
that is the only car I have ever been able to say that about
