Hi everyone, just took delivery of a May 06 Monaro bought from a Vauxhall dealer, 1,300 miles on the clock and I have a couple of questions:
1) Advice on which VXR/Monaro dealer is good for repairs/servicing in the Midlands?
2) Any owners experience difficult gear selection from cold?
3) Have noticed that maybe alternator does not supply enough voltage when heavy use of electrical items in car, anybody experienced this?
Many thanks and a big hello to you all!

Where abouts in the Midlands are you?
I think the nearest Monaro dealer is in Derby, but mine will probably be going back to Greens in Kent!
I've heard of jumping out of gear which has been sorted by the dealer but not selection difficulties.

Yes, you can change the oil which apparently helps a little. Or just start it in gear. It helps to raise rpm in the lower gear before shifting up too. Reverse is a nightmare on mine.

Gear selection from cold helps with a few miles
Had problems-ish when new but after first 10k ish alot better and now got 37k on clock-no problems at all!

My car has 15k up and the gear change is finally starting to loosen up.

First when cold is poor and reverse is permanently bad - put into 3rd then reverse without lifting the clutch is the easiest way.

I have 1st gear selection dificulty about once a month, just aswell it pulls away well in 2nd I guess! Had the oil level checked and it was fine but dealer couldn't repeat the fault. Rather than let them run it for a month until it happens again I thought I'd just live with it.

I use Bellengers in Oxfordshire, they are a Monaro specialist and seem very good.

If you roll it a little in 2nd or 3rd it goes into 1st and reverse much easier too.

.. At least they are hard to break!

I'm in the Midlands in between the Bristol and Birmingham dealers..... Tried them both and I now drive to Greens in Kent - 'nuff said?

They were just shocking....

I never mind if someone says "No, sorry, I don't know anything about this....." The dangerous ones are the dealers who nod their heads, promise the world, laugh at you after you've gone and then do absolutely nothing. To55ers.

I had two bad experiences

1. Respray of fromnt bumper paint has cracked off - starting peeling after 6 months around the grill.
2. When battery went in key fob waited for an hour after one person said they had difficulty changing teh battery but they had them in stock to end up on hold to VX technical in Luton as they admitted that maybe you could not change the battery Luckily UKHSV came to the rescue and told me what to do and it was really easy...

I have tied in business trips with a service need all the way to Kent and have used Monkfish for major internal works as they are damn good as well and were 10 mins from my office.
