cant find this info so shoot me down if ive missed it, im having my speedo replaced tomorrow and was wondering while they programming my mileage back in can they change the vauxhall on the screen to holden. if they can anyone know how to do it incase the experts aint sure ?

My understanding is that the mileage cannot be entered if it has gone over a set level. Maybe 500 miles or something.

well the understanding is incorrect. just got car back with brand new speedo head installed and mileage was same as when it went in but the git didnt know how to change the display for me and was sure that it cant be done. tut

If it's a brand new module then it can surely be set to whatever you want. You just can't change the old module if it's gone over 500 miles.

mobile who did the job and how easy was it to get them to do it?

I was booked in with Bellingers the other week and all seemed great before I called the day before.

The person I had spoken to said he would swap no problems but then I was told it needs to be investigated. As the problem is sporadic (the jumping needles) and it hadnt done it for a few weeks I was reluctant to be without the car for 3 days only to be told they can't find a fault.

Are any of the other dealers able to swap without seeing the speedo fault first hand? I dont want to get out of warranty and the fault to happen 100% and not ahve a means to replace it.

How did they diagnose your fault or was it happening a lot?

I believe there's a guy in the states who can reprogram the modules and make it do cool stuff like change colour and beep at you to shift etc.

right, slaters of colwyn bay done it for me, they had car the for half aday and then said it didnt do it, grrrrrrrrrrr i told you it wouldnt its an intermitant fault. i sent them a copy of the TSB off the gto forums. They then replaced it 100% warranty, i did take some photos on the moby to prove it had done said fault
and im outside my warranty, worth while having full service history you can still get stuff done for nowt.

yes your email did help actually, i mentioned the fact that i wasnt the 1st they had come across. didnt get the techs name but he was more helpful once id pointed out the fact. and my nice video clip of me doing 120mph reversing off my driveway had him believing me lol

you have a video clip too? Mine did that,I was also doing 120 on the dial and 12mph on digital whilst stationary
