if you've bought one of the VXR's thats been lying around its possible the battery isnt in the best of condition. Have you checked its showing a bright green charge light - it could simply be needing a good run to charge it up or it could even have failed due to lying around unused - there have been a couple of people had theirs replaced under warranty I believe.

I had this problem with my smart track a few years ago. First it reported low voltage while the car was moving :scractchin: They obviously knew there was a problem and replaced the hidden box.

Second time I was driving through Wales with the missus and for some reason the system lost coverage (or power according to their tech) and when we came out of the pub where we had dined, we were met with a handfull of trafpol that thought we had stolen it hehe I looked on my phone and there was several missed calls from the monitoring station but my phone was on silent as I had been driving boxedin

They replaced the box.. again.

See...Alarm Blues

Car was sitting in showroom...Tracker fitted to placate insurance Company

Since delivery.. car showed voltage drop... this was due to battery clamps being loose..but voltage drop appears rectified and alarm still going off..is this due to tracker ? Or a result of tracker fitment ? Accprding to non dealer elec boys the battery and voltage is sound !

Answers on a postcard to....I'm fed up with the niggles

I'd just like to add on a positive note I've had the RAC Trackstar kit fitted and had not one issue with it. Only time they called was when I forgot to notify them the car was getting taken for repair on a trailer and they called me before he got to the end of the street to ask if my car was being stolen!!! Oh and their in-built fixed camera system is useful as well - even alerting me when exceeding the limit inbetween average speed cameras. Anyone thinking of fitting a tracker and worried by the posts above I'd heartily recommend investigating the RAC system.

I'd agree, only ever had one false alarm in almost 18 months of having RAC Trackstar fitted and would recommend it to anyone. My only concern with it though is do I really know it is working?

I would also agree with these being a good piece of kit. Although I was unfortunate enough to have two duff boxes, they were both replaced promptly without any problem and the service I get from Trackstar is always excellent. I was the owner of a succesful security company (now sold) and we have fitted over fourty of these varients in connection with my business. Sorry if my post sounded negative, it was not implied.

Had similar problems with my cobra system fitted last November, seemed lack of experience in fitting them to these cars was the problem. Eventually the Boss of Driven in car systems came out as he'd fitted one before and sorted out the problem.

It seems its very difficult finding a permanent live feed for the unit, as even with the ignition off some wire's have power for a short while, i.e and hour of more fooling the engineer into believing its a permanent live when actually its not. Something like that anyway. Only careful study of the wireing diagram shows which really are permanent live.

When they found it the system worked fine and has done ever since.
