Just a quickie (hopefully), even on shortish journeys of late the cooling fans seem to come on. Admittedly its been pretty warm in this part of the world so could be nothing but on my previous car (Lotus Carlton) this was an early sign that all was not well with the world.
I'm fairly hopeful that its nothing and just due to the weather but with a track day tomorrow I don't really want a cooling issue.
I'm not losing coolant and the levels are fine just looking for a bit of peace of mind

At low, normal speeds the engine tune is probably irrelevent. I'd get a bigger fan set up or more coolant capacity if you have real problems. I had a turbocharged TR8 which, no matter how big the rad was or how big the fans were, always got hot in traffic jams, peak summer.
The eventual cure was a viscous fan fitted to the crank pulley. Worked a treat and I've saved it for the chevy, it's that good.

Larger radiator? These Holdens operate day in, day out, in 40+ degree C heat here in Aus and the Middle East. You shouldn't need a larger radiator.

What with aftermarket non intercooled superchargers too? He is running almost 2x factory power output. I agree stock radiator is more than enough for stock power. But how can you be so sure when its forced induction. More power = more heat. Its plain physics.
However if his vehicle has run fine for a few years and only now playing up. Then perhaps its more like a sticky thermostat, or dodgy water pump etc.

Didn't see that bit. Agreed, it would make a big difference.
Track day over and no major dramas, well, on the cooling front anyway! Did manage to split the main intake hose into the throttle body though but on reflection it 'may' have already been holed. Due to an extremely long straight there was more than enough opportunity to hold a lot of boost for a long time so the split just got worse.
I was very happy with the Nexen tyres as well, very consistent grip and no dramas at all.
Great day out, no major dramas and scorchio hot as well

We have simlar set up, no cooling problems ever except when it went to red light scenario after a blast, after much head scratching added just under a litre of oil, sorted, so slight over filling or up to the mark on the dip stick will keep the engine cool.
I will certainly double check that, I think also that the thermostat may be sticking because even 1hr after switch off the radiator felt hot to touch which can't be right. My track day was prematurely ended though due to splitting the inlet hose to the throttle body so I'm now in need of a right angled approx 96mm-76mm reducer. Arse!

I did about 30 miles at speed in hot weather with a/c on, parked for about 30 mins & within a mile the gauge went right over to its maximum. I really could not work it out, checked for leaks everywhere and when I checked the oil it was only just under its normal position so I added most of a litre container I had with me. Have discussed it with a few who think I am mad, how can a lack of one pint of oil make a car overheat, indeed it does sound a bit weird but the reality was lack of oil did cause over heating. Hope you get your ‘elbow’ sorted. Try Mark at GB Rapid for help or maybe Demon Tweaks will have the part in stock, hope you get it sorted - Will
Taking things one step at a time, but baring in mind other answers.....
During short journeys, how often are you making 570bhp ? Not that long I imagine. So cooling system is under no more strain than any other simialr car.
As others say, if you have air-con and are using it, this will require fans to operate quite often.
What temps are you actually seeing ? Do you know ? These can pretty hot without any real concerns. Ive raced mine at over 100degC and its still fine. Guys in the US have run them even hotter !!!
Ive recently been told that some brands of anti-freeze already contain a similar product. One person said the fancy stuff from Halfrauds contains it. No idea where else.
Another guy years ago said Rinse-Aid is the same thing ( dish washing product )

Any pics of your hose ? I might have something if you are stuck. Its not perfect, but is functional and new.

The temp gauge is showing nothing untoward, it goes up to halfway and thats about it. The scangauge shows a running temp of between 195-203 degrees F, so nothing too majorly excessive. The intake hose however is now completely fubar as I did a temporary repair which would be fine under normal driving so long as I didn't mash the loud pedal into the carpet. I did try not to but sometimes you've just got to put some people in their place.
I probably bring it on myself though as the caption on my plate does read "limited to 570bhp please pass"
As for the air con, I do use it every now and again just to keep everything operating but I'm more of a stereo off, windows down blip the loud pedal kind of a guy.

Same hose I thought.
I have a Blue one that I got made up....length might not be exactly the same. It would work perfectly, it just wasnt as smooth as I liked, so I never used it. I'll post a pic later.

Not where I got my OBX one, but same idea.
The rubber ones like you have....well, I had one too, and didnt like it. But they do seem to work for a good while.
