UKIP - A Political party for petrol heads???

Not everyones cup of tea I know, but it appears UKIP do have a sympathetic attitude to drivers.
I've just read UKIP's Transport policy in their Election manifesto and it makes good reading for me as a much maligned and abused motorist.
Flame on!

s anyway, but if there was genuine support for motorists, who lets face it through all the extortionate taxes imposed upon them which in turn literally funds the running of the country, then anything that eases that burden on motorists has to be a good thing. Especially when a lot of that motoring is personal use and hobby related. No other hobby sees such extortion forced upon them ! So why the f
k do we ?Here's one I like a lot:
" SPEED CAMERAS & ROAD SAFETY - UKIP will only allow installation of speed cameras when they can be used as a deterrent at accident black spots, near schools and residential areas where there are specific potential dangers. We will not permit speed cameras to be used as revenue raisers for local authorities".
They are also against the fitting (and indeed would allow drivers to disable systems already fitted) of eCall GPS tracking systems which the EU want to force manufacturers to fit. These will be used to report your position back to a central database and be used for stuff like road pricing tariffs and could be used to check your speeds too.
!984 and Big Brother are a little too close for comfort in the EU.
This is the best car friendly one for me:
" CARING FOR CLASSIC CARS - To help protect the enduring legacy of the motor industry and our classic and historic vehicles, UKIP will exempt vehicles over 25 years old from Vehicle Excise Duty"
I don't see any of the other parties doing anything to help motorists, for whom we are mostly just a cash cow to be financially molested at will!

The trouble with running any country is that most people want top notch services, but don't want to pay for them. All official bodies continually need to find new and inventive ways to fund the services we demand. And when they fail, the country ends up borrowing.
One of my clients was the office that issued government bonds. I ran a project to launch a new 50-year bond (an IOU note that pays interest). It raised £2.5-billion in three minutes. All of which covered Gordon Brown's spending habits for just one month.
Death and taxes. If you think any party will change this, you should think again.

I didn't want to get into a broader discussion. I just wanted to say that at least one political party is thinking about the motorist in an apparently sympathetic manner. Do I take it you disagree with the extracts I mentioned? One of my clients was the office that issued government bonds. I ran a project to launch a new 50-year bond (an IOU note that pays interest). Did you hear the green party won't tax earners under £42k? One of my clients was the office that issued government bonds. I think that the proliferation of cameras and their use to stop people driving without tax, insurance and MOTs is a good thing. Speed cameras are pretty much irrelevant if you don't speed, so I don't mind if they are everywhere (which they always will be). How can you get upset by a speeding fine? I'd like to see video cameras linked to AI, so that antisocial driving can be weeded out too. Knobs that cut you up, tailgate and generally make the road a less safe place to be need to be fleeced until they mend their ways.Spying on drivers through in car cameras and GPS is also pretty much irrelevant if you just us the roads to get from A to B in a sensible manner. Such devices make quite a difference to law enforcement and the insurance industry too. Road usage charging is a way of life for Londoners. Seems like a clumsy tool to try and reduce the number of road users, given that public transport alternatives are a joke. I don't see it making the roads clearer.
Free road tax on old cars? Great idea

They should marry death and taxes in another way. Death to those who enforce taxation. One of my clients was the office that issued government bonds. Note to all political parties . . .
Last year the UK spent £11.7 Billion on foreign aid with a growth of 0.7% GDP on 2013 amount spent (The government spent like billy o to ensure they hit this 'target' to avoid enforced cuts in the following financial year). In 2015 it is estimated this will increase by another £1 billion.
The National Health Service and the majority of public service workers got a 0% pay increase?
I wont even start on immigration . .
This country is f
ked by whoever runs it.
