An oil temp sensor question

I have just recieved a new oil temp sensor to fit as mine has gone a bit mad ( reading -18 deg c on a morning!) But when I take the old sensor out will the oil start pouring out or does the sensor go into a thermowell ?

Sorry don't know - a service mgr. at a friendly dealer may advise by phone, if no-one on here knows?

I replaced my Tusc oil temp sensor, you will lose some oil but just be quick with putting the new one in and have some cloth to hand.
