After 3 years and 16000 miles I'm getting fed up with the slow fill up, don't squeeze the nozzle too hard or you get a blow back of fuel issues. What exactly is the cause of this on the 350? It doesn't seem to be an issue on the Tamora or Sag so I'm guessing the 350 as a different design of filler neck once below the nozzle? If so is there an easy fix for this?

Slightly different on the Chim though, twist the nozzle to the correct angle and you can open the pump up onto full flow and it should still cut off - I only ever had one blow back on my old chim and that was because the nozzle had not gone in far enough. The 350 on the other hand is a right PITA!

sometimes that works, sometimes it doesnt, i try it every degree of rotation and depth, but i reckon its 1 in 5 that i get more than £12 in at a time, now i have a couple of kitchen towel by the filler hole ready to mop up what i know i am going to spill.

Pressure? Fuel in, air must escape outwards.. if it can't then pressure builds until it overcomes the incoming pressure, and you get a petrol wash?

The Sagaris has a vented filler, so air escapes much more easily.

You certainly have to fill a bit more slowly, but its not that slow. If you're constantly clicking off or having fuel spurt out I'd get your breather pipe checked. I can put 40+ litres in with no clicking or spurting, never gets above 52 litres without being full to the brim and dribbling out though.

same issue here, would love a mod to help with this.. takes me ages to get £20 in the tank. Like others I keep a rag in the boot to mop up afterwards.

Brim the Tam all the time with 54 litres. No problems at all? so I guess it is specific to the T350

I have found my T350 is less inclined to regurgitate it's breakfast when fed Optimax. Sadly I usually use BP Ultimate because I collect Nectar points. Picky beasts these.

There is a similar issue with 98/99 Mazda mx5s - the problem is with the fuel filler valve - it is a two-way valve that gets too easily overwhelmed by UK pumps. As has been said, the key to it is the inability to vent - in the case of the Mx5 and our T350 - the valve is like one you would see on a throttle body, circular section, with a spindle through the middle. The solution on the mx5 is to replace this with a japanese spec part (dont ask rolleyes) This has three seperate 'flaps' which open. I was sceptical as to whether it would work, but having fully fixed my mazda, I am pretty confident the same mod would sort a T350 if there was a way of accessing/ replacing it.

The JDM filler valve - see the three flaps.

My first fill up in my T350t ended up with half of it all over my trousers and shoes, I figured that if i put hose over my shoulder and twisted nozzle half sideways (F1 stylie) I could put optimax in at half speed. My Tam takes it at full speed any angle.

The answer is a Sag filler linked to the tank with a Tuscan tank pipe. The factory did mine at the time and it was to my knowledge the only T350 ever fitted with one. I will post a picture if I can find one.

My T350 was a 'slow filler' and it alweays took forever at the pumps. I could get 52 litres in there if I tried.

My Griff happily swallows copius amounts of fuel on a very regular basis.

I think its an 'alchoholic' !!drink

To drag an old thread back up does anyone have any more info on the above mod? As my car is having a new back end it seems a perfect time to have this mod (or something similar) done to it.
Pics would be fantastic if anyone has any?

I hadn't seen this thread before!
This drives me completely bonkers, every bloody time I fill up it goes everywhere. No matter how careful I am, not to mention it taking ages.

Quick question though - I've never managed to get more than 44 litres in, and that was reading completly bone dry - 0L left in the tank. (It always reads 52L once brimmed though)
It drops from 20L to next to nothing very quickly.

Generaly speaking, how much further do you think I can go before filling?
Is the fuel readout / measurer easy to fix?

During my last fill up when it was reporting zero litres left (occasionally 1 litre) I got about 45 litres in with the dash showed 52 litres (dont think it goes above 52 in my experience). So it appears there was some fuel left in the tank but I wouldnt suggest relying on that. My thinking is its only for the oh bugger moments when the expected fill up stop is shut etc.
PS I dont normally run it that low but the fuel shortages kept me out of the garages whilst the queues were silly and weather has limited usage since :/ .

On a related topic, I have been getting 'Fuel Sensor Error' at more regular intervals now so assume it needs replacing - it now sometimes gives random high or low readings.

Common issue/easy fix?

Thanks for that Mark, not seen that thread before. I like the look of the first 350 (BobDs) but the filler of the racer looks bloody awful.
