Tamora booked in for mods

Hi ed,
What are you having done to your Tam. Got my Tam booked into Surface Design and DC Trim in December for a full body respray and full interior refit. Thinking of a reflex blue body colour, and light grey/Navy blue interior retrim in smooth leather with cross stitching for the seats and doors. Can't wait

I'd love to have my T350 done too - both re-spray and re-trim.What are you having done to your Tam. These guys are really close to each other aren't they?
I don't want to be rude and ask you what you're paying, but can you give me a rough outline of what I need to budget for this?
Thanks
I am going for:
TVR Power 4.3 upgrade (can't quite stretch to the 4.5)
Nitrons
Alloy Rad
And a couple of bits of trim need sticking back on plus a new clutch.
Cosmetically the car is fine and I still love Reflex Green on the Tam.
It's going in 1st week of May so should be all done and and on the road by June.

Good choice, I think the reflex colours on a Tam look awesome mine is Reflex Green. I love the idea of cross stitched leather too. Very swanky. Get some pics up when it's done. What are you having done to your Tam. Got my Tam booked into Surface Design and DC Trim in December for a full body respray and full interior refit. Was often thinking if you could do a reflex charcoal with a coat of spectraflair on top

Just managed to find a couple of extra K so the 4.5l may be an option.
What do people think?
Who has had the 4.5? Comments please?
Reflex Charcoal is such a lovely colour but I think a bit dark on the Tam.
I got the 4.3 and absolutely love the power! i cant get enough of it. I did think about the 4.5 but once i got the actual final bill i couldnt have been able to justified the 4.5. The difference between the 3.6 and 4.3 is like black an white. What do people think?

Thanks for the feedback, I am guessing there where a few unforeseen parts needed. What was the total bill if you don't mind me asking?
No probs, Well i also got a new clutch, lighter flywheel, geo set up, new drop link, and it needed some liner work done, new piston, 4.3 green injector, bigger starter motor and a few more bits so it came to over 10g. But i can tell you that everytime i put the foot down the cost is left behind with everyone else

That's pretty much what I am having plus nitrons and a new rad as its got a hole. Really good to hear how happy you are with the power. Do you think a light flywheel makes much of a difference? I know it's hard to tell as you had the engine and fly done at the same time. I guess for a few more quid it's worth doing? I am really quite excited now
Thanks
Have you considered the FFF route?
Thanks
The new head gives more power by itself, and they can make it 4.3 at the same time for not much extra. The way they described it to me was that it was just a new crankshaft - as most of the other stuff gets changed anyway.

I did think about the FFF but I really like Doms enthusiasm and the philosophy that the S6 engine is a fine engine but just had a few bad components causing trouble. I guess at the end of the day the result is a more powerful engine that is reliable whichever route you take. I would be interested in understanding the difference in driving characteristics between the two though. The new head gives more power by itself, and they can make it 4.3 at the same time for not much extra. I'm in the same boat. Ed
I'd like my T350 to have a few more horses.
When I started looking at it, the TVR Power route looked like the obvious choice, and Dom clearly has an excellent reputation.
However, the guys at RG are also a very, very, nice and knowledgable bunch.
There are loads of threads on here detailing the difference bewteen the engines, but from what I understand, no one has gone for the "best of both" - i.e. had the engine upgraded to 4.3 and also had the new head fitted.
This seems to me to be the "new" obvious answer...
Ed, what I would suggest is having a go in the FFF demonstrator. It is a Tuscan 2, and has also had polybushes fitted and AST shocks (which are as much of a revalation as the engine actually), and the Syvecs system.
All in all, it is a hell of a car. Just sooo fast. On country roads you can't get close to full throttle - even briefly. Getting back into my 3.6 left me underwhelmed!!! I never thought I'd be saying that.
I'm waiting to see if the VVT is going to work, if it does then I could be tempted to put it onto the 4.5 SS, If you look at the RR graphs of the FFF you will see a huge sunami wave in the graph, that's why the FFF needs VVT to sort out the cam overlap. Something to note is the VVT might not be a retro-fit onto existing FFF heads!!.

That's what I am hoping to get from the Power 4.3 and nitrons and I think I will. But you are right I should try out the demo car. Is it a 3.6 or 4.0 engine? I have read up on VVT head coming out and also I read that the Syvecs is a pretty amazing bit of kit too. However if I am right the work needed and the extra bits will work out quite a bit more for the FFF than the 4.3 and that kind of money puts you in the Power 4.5 SS bracket. I am in the area tomorrow so may give RG a call and go for a spin.
Has anyone here driven the Power 4.3 and RG FFF back to back?
