Bucket seats?

I'm sure this has been covered no end, but I can't find anything on the searches.

I want to fit a bucket/racing seat to buy more headroom - I'm a bit loathed to remove my seats as I've got custom carbon backs to them... but needs must.

Has anyone fitted bucket seats to their car - and if so, what looks nice, and works well?

I have fitted a Cobra Imola Pro bucket seat to my T350. These i think are the only ones that will fit in the car. They are a tight fit and are not on runners (although obviously the steering wheel and pedals are adjustable) so you have to comfortable with the driving position.

IMHO they were well worth it as i have also installed a harness bar and 4 point harness.

Edited to add that headroom wise they are actually higher than the standard seat but you can remove/trim the foam in the seat base to suit. They work really well and are very comfortable even on long journeys. Essential really if you drive a lot on track i think.

I think most members would bid me for my seats... but I'm afraid they wont be sold, unless the car is sold.

The cobra seat looks ok. The sold purpose for me it to gain headroom - its looks like you are, but are you now sitting lower in the car? Can you guess by how much too?

I take it you have the seat cushion removed in the standard seats? I have to say with the Cobra that i have actually probably lost a bit of headroom even with the seat cushion removed. This is because the Cobra seats are side mounted so the seat frame is quite high. It surprised me as i thought i'd be sitting lower in the car but its still fine as i'm only 5'10.

If your only purpose is to gain headroom then in my experience the Cobra seat would not be the way to go.

Go for a set of Exige seats, good support and much lower.

The trouble with a lot of race seats is that they are designed for super slim ars*s and don't fit your typical tiv driver!

I just flapped up the seat cushion - and I fit! Plus it gives me some lower back support.

I'll look into these Lotus seats though. It sounds like its those, or a custom seat cushion style thingy.

well, the "Race Comfort" is OK!
But the look inside , of course my opinion , i dont like.
I thought the Orginal T350 Seats are very very good ....
But the main thing is ...you must love it .... haha

No it doesn't bother me obviously. I know it doesn't match at all but its purely functional and the standard seat (which i thought was terrible) can always go back in.

I plan on getting the car re-trimmed in black leather so it will match nicely then

Well I've fallen in love with a new project car, so I'm now open to sensible bids on the tam (listed on PH). I'm going to keep enjoying it until I get sensible money (with the cushion flapped up) - and then I can start on a new project... but I better get the old project completed first!
