Had battery issues,it was suggested that it could be the 100 amp fuse to the altenator,so i set to it this morning, after quite a faff getting at it i found no fuse, just a metal connecting strip,as i gently took it of it fell apart at one end,do you think this was the problem?
Now,should i replace it with a new fuse,or a new metal strip?

It's a strip fuse not just a metal strip but would suggest changing for a125A fuse. Replacing the holder if its corroded is also a good idea.

Fit a125A midi fuse, rather than a strip fuse

My strip fuse went too......on the A421 on a Sunday afternoon. Its the fuse that connects the Alternator to the Battery, so if it goes, nothing gets any juice, including the battery, and the engine runs on the battery, not the alternator. It ran for 40 miles or so on battery with very strange speedo readings until the car died of a dead battery. Pistonheads, via iPhone, told me where it was - RAC man changed it. Now replaced with a midi fuse (less than £3 on Fleabay) as suggested above - the strip fuses are known not to be reliable.

ordered 2 new 125 midi fuses last night on ebay, free delivery, unlike the specialists, one of which wanted £8 to deliver the same 2 fuses, extracting the urine i think!
