transmission tunnel heatshield.

out driving today i really noticed the heat coming up from around the gear stick gator,so i though it would be a good idea to get some heat insulating material to line the inside of the gator & surrounding area.
just wanted to know if anyone has done this,found a suitable material here http://www.thermalvelocity.co.uk/Heat-Shields/Refl...
a good idea? or waste of time?

This usually happens when the rubber gaiter splits/comes loose round the gear stick, pop the tunnel cover off and have a look.
