Argghhh! My ring piece!

Well, its finally happened. The ring around the petrol filler is, at the moment, held on with a bit of insulation tape

I've bought some epoxy resin to stick it back on - is this the best stuff to use or is there something else I should be looking at? Do I have to clean off the old glue before resticking it?

Depends what type of epoxy it is, some are only conditionally resistant to petroleum. See if you can get Araldite 2022.

Its Halfords brand. They had an Araldite version but that one specifically said not suitable on some paint surfaces so I went with the Halfords one.

Its like a little double syringe.....

Could I be any more vague? Its in the car...

The latest cars appear to have two small screws in the ring to hold it in place. Perhaps you could attempt to drill the ring and screw it in place in this manner?

I personally think a micro version of the Audi TT fuel filler cap would look good.

Neil exactly same happened to me, I used sikaflex221 as recommended and is absolutely brilliant, sticks anything to anything, i would recommend removing the old glue first though, cos if like mine im sure its gone all brittle and started to flake away anyway

Neil why not wait till you have the respray and let the factory fit the new version....

That's what I thought Rob but until then I need a better way of securing it than a piece of tape

I'm having the whole car coated in glue so no more bits can fall off
