Hi,

My Tamora has no expansion tank, only the swirlpot.
If I fill it till about an inch under the neck (as the manual says), if it gets hotter around 90 degrees it will start spitting out coolant via the blue cap.

Is that due to it being overfilled? because it expands and need to go somehwere.
How to determine the right amount of coolant in the swirlpot?

Is there a kit available to add an expansion tank, any tips?

regards Michiel

Once the system is full, any excess will be dispensed through the pressure cap. The swirl pot isn't full. One test to see if it is full / has sufficient coolant is if the left hand side (as you stand infront of the car) radiator hose has water in it when you squeeze it.

There are kits available with a swirlpot with a sealed cap and an additional connection to a header tank with pressure cap that basically copy the Tuscan and later set up on the T cars. This does add some more coolant into the system as well so might be worth it in warmer climates.

TVR didn't have any fancy fixings for the header tank. Just studs glassed in and some ali strapping.

The expansion tank has a fixed level, but this is not the same over all cars. For my T350, when cold, it’s about two-thirds full, and still below the inlet pipe coming from the engine. If I top it off, the car spits it out. It is self regulating.

There was this system from Trackvroad:

If it has suddenly started doing this then check for a leak which will put air into the system.
