HELP IDCore Android Car Play - DBS
Discussion
Hi
I'm looking for some help.
Recently acquired 2022 DBS with Idcore Carplay installed. I've managed to get my Samsung S24+ connected to Carplay but have no audio.
I've "googled" and all I can find is to go to Media and choose Aux. However, I don't have an Aux option.
Anybody have the magic answer?
Thanks in advance

Hi
I have idcore in my 2013 V8 Vantage. The Audio is indeed put through the vehicle Aux in my car. If your car doesn’t have an Aux fitted, I can’t see a way around that, aside from fitting an external speaker to aux out cable that’s fitted to the idcore unit.
Can you get access to your idcore unit easily? If so, plug headphones or a speaker in to the Aux line out to test for sound.
I don’t use the Aux in my car for music as it loses sound quality. So my phone is linked to the car’s Bluetooth for calls and music streaming. But I have a speaker plugged directly in to the idcore unit, so when I have the nav on, the voice comes out of the small speaker I have installed.
I’m sure there was a post on here last week with the same issue you’re having.

It’s really annoying because the idcore unit connects to your phone via blue tooth, and receives the sound input from google maps and Waze etc but then it broadcasts the signal down the aux capable and in to the aux of the vehicle. Or at least that’s how it works on my car.
If you have no aux in your car, potentially you just can’t have sound. I know I sound ridiculous, but it depends if your idcore unit is any newer than mine. If not, you’ll have to do the same as I did and plug a speaker in.

I need to find that other post you refer to. I had a quick look before I posted but couldn't see anything.
I expected the Bluetooth connection to be the audio route, the Aux doesn't really make sense to me.
I think the post referred to is regarding the Ksmart CarPlay adaptor, not the ID Core.I expected the Bluetooth connection to be the audio route, the Aux doesn't really make sense to me.
The AUX input is one of the options under Media (unless they changed the system in 2020).
I have my phone connected by cable, so the phone charges at the same time. For the reasons posted above, I play the phone thriough the media interface as this receives the processing that the AUX input doesn’t.
(The system can be switched between ID Core and the car by pressing and holding the return button, top left, in case you were not aware).

I have just bumped the other CarPlay discussion up: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...I'm looking for some help.

It may be that your IDCORE unit is knackered - AM dealers no longer use this model for the installs; that's what happened to mine (2019 Vantage)...but then the new one had a problem, not helped by a) the user manual being badly written and unclear and b) the dealers not knowing their way around the new unit.
Mine (the new one that replaced the IDCORE one) seems to be working OK now though. Fingers crossed it will stay that way.

I’ve just seen on the other thread that the problem was solved. Apparently he had to completely disconnect from his car blue tooth and only connect to the CarPlay unit. Assuming your CarPlay is the same as his, hopefully that’ll solve the issue.fingers crossed for you, Hillside. It may be that your IDCORE unit is knackered - AM dealers no longer use this model for the installs; that's what happened to mine (2019 Vantage)...but then the new one had a problem, not helped by a) the user manual being badly written and unclear and b) the dealers not knowing their way around the new unit.

Sorry to jump in on your post. Has anyone fitted an id core unit? I have a 2013 vantage and was thinking of buying one. Is it plug and play? Does it come with installation instructions and is there any software etc required?
Thanks
Hi Tom,Thanks
I’ve fitted idcore to my 2012 V8V and it was very much plug and play. Just be careful when removing the panels.
I was on the recent Snowdonia weekend and the CarPlay system was a great help. I did roughly 700 miles that weekend.
I tried to PM you but it doesn’t allow messages. I’m happy to send you the instructions I had sent to me. Also, Toby at Aston. Martin Reading did me a good price on my unit and he was a pleasure to deal with and posted it out to me for a small postage charge.
Where are you based?
