Interesting "new" DBX from Aston with 717 bhp: https://www.astonmartin.com/en-us/models/dbx-s

Wasn't like the DBX 707 was ever lacking in power! Same torque figure as the 707.

“The introduction of DBX S not only reaffirms our commitment to producing the most exciting, rewarding and beautiful cars, it also sends a powerful statement of intent about our ambitions not just for DBX, but for the Aston Martin brand,” said Aston boss Adrian Hallmark.

Top Gear says it starts at £210,000: https://www.topgear.com/car-news/first-look/aston-...

Car and Driver think it'll be a $300,000 MSRP in the US (including the extra tariffs?) which seems high to me: https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a64623849/2026-a...

What do folks think of "the S"?

I quite like it but I’m not really sure why AML have felt the need to make it. Wasn’t much wrong with DBX707 as far as I can see and if I’d just bought one I think I’d be rather miffed. Is it just to usurp Purosangue and maintain the crown of most powerful SUV? I would assume the naming of this car will mean the recently spotted DB12 with a similar exhaust set up will be unveiled as DB12S or possibly just DBS? Be interesting to see how many DBX707 have been sold in the first quarter of 2025 when the Q1 2025 numbers are released this morning. Will a new updated model be enough to attract enough SUV buyers? Let’s wait and see. BRM.

Aston have previous form in releasing upgraded vehicles so as Minglar says anyone just bought will no doubt suffer even more depreciation than they thought.
But they can’t win either way as a company if they don’t although to keep finding brand new customers to the brand won’t get any easier.
Used ( sorry timeless ) 707’s will be more attractive though to some.

Looks good to me. The only colour I'm not keen on of the four on the website is blue, the black and red cars look gorgeous. Would probably take the red as black is a PITA to keep looking clean.

Also, who buys a car these days with the insane prices and expects no depreciation?

New customers to the brand with no knowledge or with the wrong perception ?
It’s not like the nice Dealer will mention the depreciation.

Probably just following normal industry practice, Richard.

Peak sales for any car are usually in the early years of a model run, followed by a steady decline (charts below), so for a 7 year model life, there will often be a facelift version in year 5, acting as a sales booster.

My explanation is also reflected in the AML SUV sales numbers released this morning.

The added sportier features look good, but I am sorry AML, I see so many SUVs, some of which I cannot even name, so they have no appeal to me. The ever more power game is amusing. I expect all modern Aston Martins have dashboard bhp displays, so seeing the number 700 probably never occurs. Average steady cruising at 70 mph is likely to only require about 30 bhp.

I do like the mods but I can’t see any existing owner upgrading unless they were about to change so they might think I may as well go for the top of the range model. On the configurator, you can still choose between the “base” 707 and the new S which is odd.
I don’t like the mesh polycarbonate (plastic) grille so I’d choose the vaned one which looks better, I’d take the glass roof instead of the carbon and probably some nicer wheels instead of the lighter magnesium ones so that’s most of the weight gain lost on those options.
47 kg is about the weight of my dog so when I want a spirited drive I’ll just leave her home! smile
