Got the 2009 vantage manual roadster recently and trying to find the best place to put a phone mount. Can I put a suction cup/fixed phone mounts on the piano black trim - any experience? I've seen people put air vents mounts but since it blocks vents i don't want to go that route. Also anyone able to hide charging cable behind the waterfall trim or somewhere else? Looking for cleaner look without jeopardizing the car.

Thanks in advance!

I bought one of these.

I still have some movement in the air vent less vertical but plenty from side to side. Importantly it wasn’t needing to be stuck to anything, I’ve run the cable down the skipped dash and along into centre console armrest where I’ve used a cirgarette lighter usb adapter to give it power.

It’s very secure and has a strong magnet so phone never falls off it.

As a revolutionary and outlandish concept, what would happen if you just switched the phone off and left it on the passenger seat? Or do you use it for navigation?

It is quite fun to see how far the OEM sat nav can get you towards your destination on the old maps, but sometimes it is useful to have Waze.

I use a Quadlock cradle, on a home-made mount

Waze and Spotify. I would love not to have it but a quick glance at it to see how sharp the next bend is or whether the regional constabulary have kindly positioned a photo opportunity for my safety is ever more important.

I currently have one installed on the piano black waterfall; it obscures the passenger vent and frankly looks shyte. Has anyone stuck a mount to the front quarterlight window? Might swap it over and see if it works...

I use one of those MagSafe ball jointed things that is stuck on using 3M tape. I stuck it just below the air vent, which actually serves the purpose of keeping the phone cool when it is plugged in and being used for navigation.

The exact one I use is this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0B9MY1CVD?ref_=ppx_hz...

Very unobtrusive when my phone is kept in my pocket, especially as it is not a mount that is a charger and therefore no cable to go to it.

A little confused. You have the CarPlay equipped pop-up display showing. Why have your phone accessible to?

After a LOT of searching and Amazon returns I went with this Peak Design Qi2, Magsafe mount. It's expensive, but all aluminium and I wanted something that felt at home in the car.

Don't have it yet (don't have the car yet!) but will post a couple of photos when I do.

I dont always use CarPlay; when I do use CarPlay, it needs to be plugged in so the phone needs be somewhere anyway, and there is nowhere to put the phone in the cabin; I dont like sitting with my phone in my pocket whilst in the car, and as my previous point, there is nowhere to put your phone; Also, even when using CarPlay, because its not a touchscreen it is far simpler to control things like changing the destination or to scroll through Spotify etc on the actual phone itself. So you still want the phone accessible. And it is being cooled at the same time!

As you can see, it would be utter madness to have the phone anywhere else!:P

Not a great photo, but I bought this cheapie one that’s a suction cup with a long flexible semi rigid arm. Does the job just fine and not too obtrusive.

I started looking at mounts for that position or the little side quarterlight until I realised I wouldn't be able to charge the phone on a long drive. Waze + Spotify is pretty power hungry and I'll be doing 3.5-4hrs in the car a couple of times this weekend.

I just bought this Lisen mount, smallest footprint I gave seen and nice quality metal. But the main thing is that it folds flat when I'm out of the car which is sooo much better than the great big lump I had before. Haven't attached the phone yet (waiting 24hrs for glue to set as per) so I'm hoping the 3M pad is strong enough on my piano black fascia. I've stuck it between the dash vents and the nav screen and it feels like I have half my dashboard back!
