Hi. Boot won’t complete its auto close procedure. Have checked manual lead is not snagged and preventing full closure. Any ideas welcome. Hoping motor isn’t burnt out., but maybe fuse blown? Thanks

Mine would close, then pop open again. Is this the same as yours? Mine was fixed under warranty and was a catch issue (not sure if it was replaced or not). It also started around the same time that my battery was in poor condition, so there’s a potential that a low voltage could cause catch sensors to not play nicely.

Thanks HDPete. Not exactly the same issue. Mine won't 'suck' closed. Won't even close fully if dropped (which overrides the mechanical assisted close). Looks like a trip to the dealership ... never a desirable experience!

So is the issue that the auto-close feature isn't working, or the boot won't close at all?

If it's the auto-close function: I find that, after unplugging the car from the battery maintainer via the boot charging port (if it's been sitting for a decent amount of time), if I push down on the boot, the auto-close will not engage until I press the unlock button on the key fob. Then it will grab and finish closing. Most times though, I just drop it closed.

I never had a car with an auto/soft closing boot, but honestly, to me, it's a solution to a problem that was never there. Even worse, it creates a new series of problems on its own, as we can see here.

Rant over, hope you can resolve this easily and cheaply.

Solved, in case anyone else encounters this problem.

Poked a screwdriver into the mechanism to force it to close to the second stage lock, and bingo the motor kicked in. All working now.

yep that is exactly what I was going to suggest you do as sometimes you may not click the lid hard enough but the catch engages half way and you risk damage if you try slamming it. The same thing happened recently on my now gone ,maserati.

Just want to say thanks for this fix. One week into Vanquish ownership after 10 years of Vantage ownership so I’m fully aware of Aston Quirks. This was an easy fix once you know how, so thanks again.
