Aston owners, lend me your ears!
Discussion
Hello all, am thinking of buying an Aston but my budget is 25-30k which I think means cars about ten years old and more?
Am I going to be wasting my time and money trying to find a nice Aston at this price, or should it be doable?
I would expect to use the car for holiday drives/weekend drives here in the UK. Maybe a Scotland trip and Scandinavia. Some occasional commuting but on A roads mostly.
Would need to be a four seater as my boy is 9 years old.
Any and all advice is appreciated.

Welcome...
If you need a 4 seater then the Rapide is the only model to consider as all of the 2+2 models are very very small in the back indeed. That includes the DB9 as suggested in the post above.
The top end of your budget may get you one of the earliest Rapide's if you buy privately.

The biggest challenge with this cars isn't the purchase price, it's the price of having it maintained/repaired.
If you can do your own work, and if you buy a Rapide/DB9 that is Ford based then you can almost afford it. Well, let me correct that - I can almost afford it. I have found my DB9 to be a simple beast with consumables and spares mostly readily available outside the AM delivery chain.
FWIW, my 11 year old daughter can cram into the back, but only if there is a doughnut or muffin and hot cocoa at the end of the journey...

PH offers a choice of 21 DB7 and DB9 in that price range. The newest being from 2006.
Cheapest Rapide is £33K from 2010.
You will need a bigger budget.

A slightly more controversial approach might be to go for 2005/6 Vantage V8 or DB9 and use it for mainly pleasure trips or a trip away for two! There’s also lots of Aston events that you and your boy could go to!Am I going to be wasting my time and money trying to find a nice Aston at this price, or should it be doable?

There is an article in this issue of Vantage Driver magazine https://shop.kelsey.co.uk/subscriptions/aston-mart...
I think £30k is doable as your not a million Mile's away from a main dealer warrantied car

Dealer Rapides are starting at the £43k mark but I do regularly see the occasional vantage, bd7 and db9 appear at franchised dealers at low to mid 30s so a cheeky offer on one could reap rewards.
Maybe a little bit if finance to top the budget up?

And that's a Volante which carries a 10% premium over the Coupe.
At least with the Volante you can lower (small) people into the back seats with a crane, as opposed to shoehorning them in horizontally behind the front seats with the aid of some passing burly pedestrians.
Now if they could make a Rapide Volante...
