I’m reading an old Car issue from the reveal of the Virage to the Press, and in it they are hugely complimentary about the set up of the Virage prototype E609XMJ.

However subsequent road tests of production cars cite the handling as weakness compared to the V8.

Presumably Scott Ellis who did the prototype testing & set up would have favoured a more ‘sporting’ ride / handling compromise.

Was this diluted for production cars?
Does anyone know the spring / damper rates & products used on E609XMJ?
Could it be replicated on a ‘stock’ Virage?
Is this all just journalists being tts and lauding something they got to play with them rubbishing it once it’s released?

Hopefully someone here knows.

I had a brief dilly-dally with this one a few years back.

This is a 5.4L (not the 6.3L) Works Wide Body Special. A lovely cruiser and to be frank, I doubt you could make it go fast enough to trouble the suspension.

My major concerns were the Audi Quattro lights were rank rubbish and when making maximum legal progress, stopping takes some time on old +2000kg motorcars.
