Have Bamford Rose been looking after the car or did they just do the decat? I’m a big fan of BR and would much rather buy a car with their stamps in the book than those of a main dealer. My advice to anyone buying an Aston would be to set aside a day to watch all of Mike’s YouTube videos and you’ll get a feel for most of the things that go wrong with these cars. Alternatively just get them to do a pre-purchase inspection.
I don’t think there’s anything about the DBS that sets it apart from any other Gaydon era Aston when it comes to buying except for brakes. The CCM discs are seriously expensive to replace and converting to steel discs isn’t a cheap option so make sure they’re in good nick.
They all seem to prefer being used regularly so 45k miles looks about right and it won’t carry the unwarranted premium a low mileage garage queen would attract.
One thing I think does get overlooked is the condition of the interior. You’d expect some creases & a bit of wear given the age & mileage but if there’s anything more significant it will be more difficult & more expensive than you’d think to put right.
Also try to find out the age of the battery & maybe get it replaced as part of the deal. Lots of quirky electrical faults are caused by batteries that have seen better days.
Good luck.

Any major bits to look out for?
At that mileage I would check if and when the coil packs/plugs were changed. If they are still on the originals you will need to factor that in....£2.0-2.5kThe other thing that is often missing from the DBS is the defibrillator and Walther P99 from the under-dash trays....worth checking !

I very well regarded independent which will help shed some light on fixed cost servicing etc.
Thought it may be useful to understand any potential costs

I'd just ask to make sure the fuel pumps have good pressure. I'm having my coils done now and they found one of the pumps is down on pressure, not dangerously but down.... so tank drop, clean, pumps out, it can add up quickly.
I get all the details of what was done tomorrow. thanks!Forums | Aston Martin | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
