4.3 V8V EGR valve removal
Discussion
I have a very rusty EGR valve that's spoiling the look of my otherwise clean engine bay.
Plan on removing, cleaning and painting it to make it look better.
How to remove the EGR valve?
Is it simply a case of undoing the hose that threads into the front (standing looking at the engine), remove electrical connector and remove the 2 mounting bolts?
Cheers

Yes. I had to remove mine in order to reach the offside engine hanging point of a strut beam a couple of years ago (when changing the timing cover oil seal). I don't remember the details, but you plan looks right enough. It all went back together ok and no ill effects. Mine is also unplated, but only a light dusting of iron oxide.
Cheers.
Final question - if anyone knows...
Will the car run with the EGR removed? I will try and clean and paint it in one go but if it means I need to wait overnight for paint to go off of whatever I'll need to out the car back into the garage overnight and it can't be pushed in - needs to be driven. Will only need to run for 1 min or so.
