Hi All,
I trust everyone on here is keeping well
I haven't been active on here for a fair while as I haven't had much to say around the AML world to be fair.
I've been actively looking for a V12VS for months now, and suddenly I'm presented with two options from the same dealer believe it or not.
Always said I'd go for the coupe again next time, and it'll be a SSIII (it's the only variant I've not owned), however AML Newcastle happen to have two very similar Morning Frost examples, both 2016, a Coupe and a Roadster.
I've been after a Morning Frost coupe for a while, but now I'm getting swayed again with the Roadster.
Specs are more or less the same (don't like the black roof and rear on the coupe so would get it sprayed) so it really is a matter of tin top or rag top. Lets not talk about seats, as I'm not even sure how many late V12VS models were sold in the UK in Morning Frost (which is my must have colour), so insisting on lightweights too is a bit unrealistic, beggars can't be choosers and all that.
Anyway, opinion is always welcome, although I'll do what I want regardless what you lot say

Bought my V12V AMR roadster from Newcastle (still waiting for the touch up paint stick if they are reading this post).
If you have not tried a SSIII I would say try before you buy as you need to use the paddles.
After all it's the same gearbox as a manual but has paddles instead of a gearstick, auto is only really fit for motorways.
Make sure that the dealer includes the windbreak if you go with the roadster.
Edited to add has the coupe got condensation in the rear lights or may just be the camera angle.

I wouldn't expect you to do anything else. My only real comment is I personally find the rear quarter vision in the Roadster is poor to the point of unacceptability. It's pretty bad in my Coupe, but that little window behind the door can be a life-saver at junctions. Yes, I know you don't have the problem with the top down, but I live in the UK and try to use mine whenever there isn't ice or salt on the roads.<snip>

Good luck with whichever you choose and I second the choice of Morning Frost. I wonder if it's easier to keep clean than my Onyx Black - I guess you wouldn't see the swirls

I still miss my Coupe V12 SS so if it has to be that Morning Frost-one then there’s my choice although I’d be holding out for those lightweights seats as I think they were the icing on the cake for me.
Spec says carbon roof and back but looks like gloss paint to me - side strakes and mirrors are in body paint so spec looks slightly jumbled to me personally albeit I have a only slight carbon fetish.
Using paddles all the time is the only suitable answer and in all the time I owned mine I pressed the Auto button just once - and quickly learnt that was something not to repeat.
In all fairness compared to the manual in my old SP10 I much preferred the SS anyway - slight curl of the toes when changing gear and the SS is great - think of it as an automated manual.
I used mine for mostly commuting each day and that made any bad day at work quickly evaporate on the drive home.
Decat the secondaries and job done.

Just heard that the Roadsters service history is very poor, it wasn't serviced at all between 2018 and 2023........who spends that much on a car and doesn't do any maintenance at all. Covid means I'd forgive a year or so, but 5 years...come on !

MorningFrost is a fantastic colour. I have a V12S coupe in it and it absolutely sparkles. Mine has black gloss roof and black gloss rear panel, plus the carbon side vents and carbon mirror caps and I think it looks fantastic.
You'll want to keep it forever, (trust me, you really will!) so buy as close to your ideal spec as possible.

Adding a bit of exterior colour via calipers is a good scheme, yellow and orange sound appealing. Chuck CF side strakes into you list above too, maybe interior door handles too, for when you get the coupe... Calipers painting in either red, yellow or orange

Calipers in Orange or Yellow both work for me ( no interior colour to clash with so purely personal choice ) - If Carbon is desired then Mirrors ,Side strakes ,and middle of rear lights was all available as a factory spec -mine had this box ticked.
Don't think a lower tray in Carbon is available but as with the waterfall and the above these will all no doubt had a fair bit in price unless your negotiation skills are top rate.
The Carbon gear shifters look great and are a fair bit longer so practically use is definitely there over the standard ones. but again are very expensive.

Hi BigRy. If indeed you are “big” I fear you might not be comfortable in the Roadster. Especially with the absence of the LWS. Also the coupe looks classier - an all time great. Whatever you do you can’t go wrong. I miss my V12V but you never go back to a prior girlfriend (until you do).

I've been looking for something a little different and have seen this one:

Mileage means it isn't a garage queen and I won't care about piling some more on it

So other than some cosmetic bits that need addressing and the service question, is there anything scary about this ? Nice colour - I assume that would be Cobalt Blue for a 2016 car?
One thing to note, its a 2016, which means its AMi II not AMi III which only came out in 2017. To be fair if its a VERY late build car, Nov-Dec then it maybe a MY17 car with AMi III but worth checking to be sure. Theres a decent difference between the two and the cost to upgrade AMi II to AMi III is not inconsiderable.

Great colour - certainly not a lot of them painted in Cobalt.
As Adam says a lot of car for the money.
Not sure I’d agree with the carbon extras comment in the advert - as not a lot visible from standard spec.
SW could do with a refresh - I always liked the Alcantara one in mine.
If it’s been on sale for a while maybe the possibility to get them to add the side strakes in carbon and also replace the centre console in carbon too - which would lift the interior a bit.
Personally I’d get the callipers painted too.

Good colour. I wouldn’t worry about it sitting around for a bit - too many AM buyer play it safe with black/white/silver/grey because they’re worried about shifting it on to the next guy.
Have you seen it in person? The front end, A pillars, lead edge of the roof and the lead faces of the rear arches are all worth checking for chips, especially the rear arches. As Adam says, check the infotainment for AMiII vs AMiIII. The later should show a greyed out Carplay option in the top menu/icon selection.
Tyres? The Pirellis that these had when supplied are generally considered inferior to Pilot Sport 4Ss. But at 30k it may already be on a second set with a bit of life left in them.
The service interval gap is unfortunate, but it I wonder whether the last owner had it done at an Indy and kept the Indy stamp out of the book. If you service it annually from now on though, as a buyer I’d take the view that in 2-3 years time that gap becomes immaterial.
Plus that colour would get you access to an exclusive WhatsApp group from what I’ve heard. Priceless as well as timeless!
