An interesting fault out of nowhere occurred on my driver's side (LHD) 2018 DB11(US).

The window stopped indexing at the top position, When I tried to reset the window stops, it now goes to the closed position then immediately drops half way down. The window no longer closes all the way w/o dropping half way regardless whether the door is open or closed.

I work my own diagnosis and repairs on this car. So far I've tried:

1. Resetting the stops multiple times
2. Cleaned and used WD40 on all the window tracks (As I know the window dropping half way is the safety feature designed to handle obstructions, so sometimes, a high resistance drag on the glass will cause the safety feature to trip).
3. I've done a hard reset of the entire car by disconnecting the battery, etc., (Too long to describe the whole reset process).

Nothing has worked. I am now focusing on two items
Door control module
Door lock (Theory here is the lock {latch} might have failed electrically and the door control module thinks the door is open when it is closed).

I welcome any input from anyone who might have (had) the same fault and how it was solved, or any other input to enlighten me as I forge through this to the end.

Also, any info on the door panel removal (sometimes there are hidden fasteners - I already found the bolt behind the door pull).

Info posted here could become a documented repair to an issue I think is a little bit common on DB11s.

Thanks in advance.

I have a similar issue with my 2017 DB11 window. If you closed it - it would bounce off the top and start opening again. If you let go of the switch just as it reached the top it would stay so you could just about close it yourself if you were careful. It dropped to open but didn’t rest its position when you closed it.

The car was still under warranty so I took it to the dealer (only time it went in not on a service interval in 4.5 years). They re flashed the window control module which fixed it but decided to change it anyway since they didn’t know why it happened in the first place. Problem never recurred.

1. Start and run the engine.
2. Make sure that all of the doors are closed.
3. Operate the left side front window to its fully open position and wait two seconds before you release the switch (Note: When the switch is released in the step that follows, the window glass will drop approximately 25 mm, then repeat this step).
4. Operate the left side front window to its fully closed position and wait two seconds before you release the switch (Note: When the window reset procedure is correct, the window glass will not drop, but it will stay closed).
5. Operate the right side front window to its fully open position and wait two seconds before you release the switch (Note: When the switch is released in the step that follows, the window glass will drop approximately 25 mm, then repeat this step).
6. Operate the right side front window to its fully closed position and wait two seconds before you release the switch (Note: When the window reset procedure is correct, the window glass will not drop, but it will stay closed).
7. If the reset procedure is correct, the one-touch function will operate. If it is not correct, repeat the window reset steps again.

The official reset procedure on DB11 and Vantage the components I believe are the same. They ARE a common failure point the regulators. On the Vantage they are circa £700, parts are not expensive, the time to do them is.

Thanks very much Ninja59 - I will try this today.

I am still working on getting the door card off. I can release the bottom side next to the door latch, but I cannot get the other bottom side to release. It is acting as though a solid bolt is somewhere in place but I see no places where a bolt could be hidden behind a cover on that corner.

I've done numerous door work on numerous car models over the years, so I am not in new territory here, just this model is new to me. I assume all the electronics I possibly need if the reset described here doesn't work, is behind the door card - Door control module, window control module (if different from the door module), the door latch, obviously.

Thanks again and all additional responses are very welcome.

Well, just tried this procedure several times and no joy.

The problem window is the leftside one (driver's in LHD)

Everything works in the process that Ninja posted up to the point where the window is closed the second time and held for two seconds. When I release, the window should stay closed, instead it continues to drop about 25 MM. Then when I operate the window all the way down and back up, when it hits the up stop it will drop down half way to the fully open position again (The window safety mode).

Regulator all day long I can ask my Gaydon contact if it helps regarding the door card?

Yes, that would be much appreciated.

Just came back from the garage. I did another hard reset, with main battery disconnected; reconnected, followed the steps again and still no success. I realize I have to get to the door control module now.
