Screen stuck in up position
Discussion
Expect this may be a common problem and hopefully with an easy fix.
My V8 Vantage 6.5 years old now as eventually got a glitch problem with the display screen which stay's in the open position, even when the car is switched off and locked.
Is there any way to reset this, easy fix or is it a visit to the local dealer?
Thanks,
Pete

Thanks chaps, anyone on here know if this is covered on extended warranty?
I would guess yes, as it's a part not working. I've recently had the infotainment system "joystick" on my V8V replaced under the Timeless warranty as it was making intermittent contact in one direction. Be prepared for your main dealer to have to fight for you, especially as they are more likely to want to swap out the complete unit (as dealers tend to do) rather than remove the unit, sit down with a pack of plastic gears, some grease and tools, then refit it. But I could be wrong and would be interested if an MD did repair the unit.
Mines stuck in the down position, well not stuck but will no longer rise to the occasion when required without manual assistance.
I was only told of this at a service as I never actually use it, there was a quote on my service 'suggestions' sheet of £375.54 to fix it, so I would guess this is replacing the gears and not an infotainment replacement.

This is pretty common & AM themselves issued a service bulletin on how to replace the offending gears back in 2009.

Interestingly said bulletin advised the procedure should take 0.8 hours. Presumably this doesn’t include time taken to remove & reinstall the satnav unit but £375 still seems a bit dear.
You can find said bulletin on the 6speedonline forum.
