I did think about searching for a DBX thread to put this link in. But in the end I decided to start a new thread. Apologies in advance if it’s already been posted elsewhere.

I love “fit for purpose” cars. Beyond the matter that estates are much more logical load luggers than SUV’s in general, a near £500k (as tested) n/a V12 that is quoted in the article as being not that easy to drive at low speeds and park is not my idea of a winner. The Ferrari’s interior is beyond drab in that spec in the review.

Never thought I’d stand up for any SUV, but hats off to the DBX which remains a class leader in many areas.

The only thing the Ferrari and DBX are both winners of is the use of unique architecture that’s not shared with parallel models. They are both designed to best represent their brand and probably do quite well.

As a P.S., I thought Harry’s Garage lates review of the DBX 707 was good. Love that he was dragging a horse nox around the field with it smile

I clicked the link then something strange happened.
A DBX costs more than £20,000 !

Oh I see now. I touched an advert, which changed the page.

Think AML claimed the DBX 707, is the fastest ultra-luxury SUV in the world.
Has the Ferrari pinched that crown?

The main difference between these two is the Aston will drop in value and the Ferrari will rise in value.

In the short term, whilst new and Insta-worthy. But long term? Untested for a Ferrari SUV. A rough indicator being their 4 seat GT models, I wouldn’t bet my house on it.

The tradional pattern for Aston Martin prices has been depreciate to a 'floor' (DB4 and 5 were cheap in the 1980s), then eventually demand for the best examples increase and prices begin to rise.

Do you think there will be future collectors demand for SUVs (of any make), or will the existing Aston Martin pricing pattern, only apply to sports cars?

You need to take production volumes into account to answer that question: thers’s a scarcity of early (and the more desirable later models) that just doesn’t/won’t exist for DBX if AM get close to their planned production volumes.

The only SUVs for which there’s any real collector demand seems to be early land rover/Range Rover with the occasional early Jeep/Japanese thrown in.

A friend of mine has ordered a Purosangue which he should get sometime next year.
I’ve owned my DBX707 for a year now and 12,500 miles and still enjoy driving it. Very comfortable, extremely good dynamics and fun on a twisty road.
Although I really like the idea of a NA V12, the Purosangue makes the 707 look like a bargain.
I use mine as a daily and quite often need the 5 seats, yesterday went with the in-laws to the restaurant, no problem seating 5 (two adults and my 11 year old son in the middle without feeling squeezed).
Big boot for our Bernese Mountain Dog too!
Almost as practical as our previous Range Rovers but way more fun to drive and feels way more special.

Maybe not, maybe the DBX will be harder to shift than a Range Rover so not so attractive to thieves?

They should update the interior asap, like really push it out as soon as possible.
The DB12 interior is on the safe side but it does not give a dated feel like the DBX interior give.. Its modern enough for now.. I feel like it will feel old rather quickly but they should still switch the interior in the DBX to that DB12 interior asap..
AML talks about younger new customers etc, well the interior of the DBX holds back sales. I know a lot of UK people think its fine but the rest of the world moved on.. That middle console is like a timeportal back to the early 2000's..

I agree that the DB12 interior is fresh in comparison to the DBX but I've just looked at a picture of the Purosangue interior and, wow, it's hideous. eek

To my mind the Purosangue is more a Panamera than a DBX, the boot is not really SUV-sized, certainly wouldn't take my labradors. Bold move to leave out the SatNav but many will be more than happy to use their phones for that so maybe it solves the obsolescence issue....

Having had a viewing of the DBV S when it came out the idea of spending vast sums on options such as the lightweight roof, mag alloys and lightweight plastic grille - yes really! - just makes me laugh.

It’s a fantastic SUV but come on, these things are still concrete blocks on wheels.
