I think I may have asked this before but can anyone recommend an AM independent to service my 2007 Vantage? Ideally Norfolk…

TIA Richard..

And a happy new year to everyone…

Only one I know of is Stratton Motor Company in Long Stratton. I have had work done there before, but can't really comment as they didn't fix it and my 2006 V8 Vantage had to be trailered back to Warwickshire for McGurks to sort it. An auto electrical expert there replaced part of the harness and it has been fine since.

I live in Wymondham and am in two minds as to who will do the next service in the spring - Long Stratton or McGurks. McGurks will cost an extra £80 in petrol.and 270 miles. Decisions decisions!

You've answered your own question in the first paragraph. I bought my first Aston in 2021, and when it developed a problem I took it to Stratton. Oh dear. I can sum them up in three words: Incompetent, arrogant, dishonest. I had to use Section 75 to get my money back.

So I now go to Nicholas Mee. The staff are a pleasure to work with, whatever Aston you have, and it's well worth the travel.

Oh dear. That doesn't make for good reading does it? Looks like I may be taking mine elsewhere then this spring!

Might be worth a call to James Cracknall at Cracknalls of Thurston.

Jaguars are more their bread and butter but I'm sure that servicing a Vantage would be well within their experience.

I live in Norwich and need to find someone just to keep the book stamped, but looks like I'll have to go to Long Stratton as I can't afford the time to go much further away than that.

I have considered a Jag specialist, but the fact its a dry sump worries me that they may not be familiar with that type of system.
Really surprised there's no specialist near Norwich, you'd have thought there were enough of these to have someone who could look after them.

thanks
Phil

Hi Phil,

If all you want is an oil/filter change and a stamp surely Stratton Motor Company can manage that?

Hi Phil, came to your place in (I think) 2011 when I had megasquirt fitted with an engine rebuild at V8D (Chimaera) hope you’re well! I see you’ve expanded your collection!

If it's only an oil/filter change any competent garage could do it, and for a fraction of the price. How about Scole Engineering in Diss? They used to do a good job with my TVR.

I'll second that.. I've not used them myself although I've popped in to see them a few times, however a number of local TVR guys I know have and none of them have a bad word to say about them.... Be interesting to phone both and ask for quotes for the specific work you want done. I could pretty much gaurantee at least one will want to get the car in their workshop before quoting wink

Yeah, to keep the history going I'd like an Aston specialist, if not I would sooner do it myself, so will probably have to go to Long Stratton.
thanks

Phil, Google redpants, great site with excellent Aston DIY advice. Oil and filter change straightforward…

I am sure Aston Martin Works will collect and return (they do for me in Suffolk and don’t charge, not sure if that is because I am a long term customer or normal).

With fixed price servicing it is reasonably priced and their work has always been first class.

As do Nicholas Mee, at a guess £75 each way from Suffolk. The trailer does look jolly smart outside your house though and will impress the neighbours smile

I do this, works pick up and drop off for free, I’m on the Cambridgeshire/Norfolk border, a works stamp in the book looks great in service history and I’ve never had any issues.

Will AM Works fetch and return it for you?
