DB11 Independents
Discussion
Well, many will likely do a simple service, but AFAIK the only one in UK that has taken the plunge with the diagnostics is Aston Workshop Beamish. OK I suppose if you are a ‘buggerallmoney’ tough Geordie or hinterland Scot but a heck of a journey up and into the freezing void of the North if you are a shandy drinking southerner as most AM owners do seem to be. Winter is coming and there be dragons n all that. I come from up there and yes it’s grim.
It’s probably just a matter of time and numbers before more make the investment. Within a couple of years all the DB11 and old new Vantage will be out of warranty and despite sales not being great there’s still a fair few knocking around. Second hand values will drop so they will be in the hands of the folks who baulk at handing a MD a blank cheque.
I’d say as early as this year we will see one of the more reasonably and accessibly located (for most) midlands/oxfordshire or London orbit outfits get involved, maybe even Mr Beake will have a change of heart, when the number of enquires change his calculus.

It really is what has already been said without AMDS2/AMDSDB an independent will be dead in the water.
Even then AMDS2 is moving to AMDSDB, but is fundamentally the same just changing the VCI device really. Additionally, one of the reasons there is lack of independents with it is the ongoing subscription charges of the newer diagnostic systems.
For example without AMDS2/AMDSDB you cannot run the coolant pumps x3 on a coolant change on an AE31 (V12 5.2) at critically year 6, i.e. the regular service due once the free services end at yr 5.
Despite all of this, and to make UK owners feel better, I have seen US servicing prices for AM MDs which include no servicing pack for ANY years irrespective of model and are regularly $1,500 - $3,000 making UK MD prices look very reasonable. Equally, extended warranty prices out in the US are significantly higher in terms of cost than in the UK.

Popped into Chiltern Aston yesterday and was pleased to be informed they have the latest software from Aston Martin to service DB11s etc.
However they can only service cars outside the 5 year service plan.
Great news for those wishing to move to an independent provider.
As always they have some lovely cars in the showroom some of which I photographed and attached for those interested to drool over. [url]
