Vanquish S - le Shuttle experiences
Discussion
Hopefully a simple one… thinking of taking the Vanquish abroad for a few days but am always mindful of the S’s very low front end and lack of lifter. Was wondering if anyone has taken one through the tunnel and could confirm that the angles all work?
(The booking site has picked up on the car being wide/low and will allocate space on a single deck carriage)
Thanks in advance.

If you're on a single deck carriage, you'll be fine.(The booking site has picked up on the car being wide/low and will allocate space on a single deck carriage)

Tell them a small fib on the website that your car has a roof box fitted. It will cost you extra, but it will put you in with the HGV and mobile homes instead of the double deck car carrier. Just make sure you go to a self service window so you don't have the attendant spot your lack of roof box and push you back to the car carrier lane.

Only go on high-sided/oversize carriage (not HGV one). The attendants will be used to it. I have never had to say it had a roof box but that was a few years ago.
Maybe we were unlucky, my partner and I booked onto the high sided one back in November last year, as the trackway is a bit wider and we were keen not to curb the alloys on her Jaguar, but despite paying the extra, the attendant nullified the booking and refunded the difference for a double deck car carrier ticket instead, forcing us to go on that instead. You will automatically be put in the wide single deck carriage. I've done it quite a few times in the Vanquish.
Bizarrely, my wife's Range Rover Sport normally gets put in the double decker carriage, upstairs on one occassion, at least it did until I found a way around it.
P.S. If you see a sign for a speed camera, there will be one. It's very worthwhile having the Waze app' here in France too.
Enjoy the trip.

Thanks guys, consensus is that it’ll be OK (but if anyone has specifically taken an S through, please do say!) should hopefully be a good trip.

Amusingly the booking site spotted the wide/low nature of a Vanquish and allocated a single deck space. Before going on to ask if I’d have a roof box (it’s a Volante) or be towing a trailer/caravan…LooneyTunes said:

I do and I did. You'll be fine. Many years ago, before the automatic allocation to the single decker, I damaged the wheels of an Aston when I was directed to the upper deck. I tried to make a claim against Eurotunnel and failed. It didn't ruin the trip, but I was not a happy bunny.
But you're on the right carriage - apart from a Vanquish I've taken a Ford GT through as well, which is pretty wide. You're fine.
