I had the diff replaced by Aston Martin, Australia, and the howl didn’t go away! Since then the dealership has tried a series of acoustic solutions none of which of worked. At 110. KBH, if you roll on and off the throttle the diff howls.
I believe this differential is also fitted to some Lamborghinis
To me, the crown wheel and pinion need adjustment.
I wonder do any other readers have experience of this or solutions. Aston Martin Australia tells me that this noise is acceptable in the Vantage.

I have no experience of the 2018 -2023 Vantage, but it might be helpful for you to know, that transmission noise has been mentioned by several owners on this forum.

I think some units have been replaced within the warranty period.

I assume it’s one of the rare manuals?

The 7 speed graziano transaxle manual box isn’t just shared with some Lambos, it’s also in the AML V12VSM. There are loads more Astons with the same ‘box but with hydraulics and actuators on the side but otherwise the same 7 speed box and diff, V8VS, V12VS and the last of the line more exotic VH stuff. In those applications that transaxle is considered very robust.

The n/a engines have less torque than that AMG V8 in your car, I understand your engine had to be torque limited in the lower gears to protect the manual box/diff.

I also have diff whine on my 2018 V8V.

It has been checked by the AML techs and they state that the whine is within tolerance and completely normal for this car.

As mentioned, there is a thread on this subject. I believe some people managed to get a replacement diff under warranty but with
marginal improvements.

We have heard several reports about transmission or diff noise with 2019 onwards cars, but I cannot ever remember that being mentioned with the 2005 to 2017 Vantage models.
Graziano transaxles have been used on both versions of the Vantage (they were 6 and 7 speed on the VH cars), so it would indicate that there must be a particular applicable reason.
The (VH) V12V probably has a similar power output to the current Vantage, so it might not be anything to do with having more power.

A mystery.
