Could the gentleman smoking a pipe overseeing the fuel filling, be John Wyer ?

First registration May 1955, 2,922cc and is currently taxed in the UK.

IIRC the chap with the pipe is an official. He crops up a lot.

smoking (even a pipe) while refuelling - boy how the world & risk management has changed!

The first image is a DB3S. Above is rhe same car. They used 3 different front end treatments of the DB3S.

One for DickyC: did any one chassis have all three??

Ooh, that's interesting, william.

As you know, what we now think of as the classic Aston grille shape is referred to as the DB3S grille, courtesy of Frank Feeley. To have different versions on the DB3S confuses things. I'll check, or at least have a go at checking.

Even Further Off Topic - An interesting thing for me is the DBR cars designed by Ted Cutting didn't have Frank Feeley's Aston grille. This hasn't affected their value
