2020 DB11 AMR Paint issues

My car was valeted today and he noticed some bubbles along the boot edge as show on the attached photo. They run the whole width of the boot edge.

Any ideas on what the cause might be would be welcome.

My immediate instinct was paint corrosion, it’s quite common on some models, it’s known on the early V8V for sure.

I would get AM Works to look at it and resolve, I think they pay for it certainly within warranty period and perhaps contribute towards it even up to ten years I recall from somewhere. Maybe dealer can advise.

I'm going to assume the valeter identified that they aren't tar spots? difficult to say from pic and unable to zoom in.

If they are paint defects then have a chat with your dealer as I've seen other paint issues covered by 'goodwill' when out of warranty.

Definitely not tar spots.

I’ve spoken to my dealers body shop guy, who was extremely helpful and he will take a look at it to see if AM will help with the repair/correction.
I cannot get the car to them for a week or two but will let you know how I get on.

Any further suggestions appreciated.

This was the corrosion on my 2019 Vantage, and I must admit, the ‘bubbling’ on yours does look similar.

The ‘root cause’ corrosion on mine was alleged to have come from ‘filings’ of metal that weren’t removed prior to paint at time of manufacture - took 4 years for the bubbling to show.

Remedial work was (eventually, after much deliberation) authorised by Aston Martin under the car’s corrosion warranty. The fact that the corrosion occurred under PPF helped to show that it was related to manufacture (rather than something I’d done). Aston outsourced the remedial work to M&A Coachworks in Hertfordshire.

Looks similar to the bonnet of my DBX. Appeared last summer on two patches so I would guess the car was almost 3 years from manufacture then. It is off being resprayed under warranty without quibble from AM at the moment. It was an ex display car so still within 3 years from purchase when I raised the issue. Should get it back in a couple of weeks.
