DB9 front grill issues on a 2004 car

Needing a wee help guys, my 7 slat grill and surround was in poor condition so bought a nice used 5 slat with surround. Got the surround roughly in position but struggling to get it to sit right. The outer corners are struggling to stay behind the bumper when trying to lever the lower lip of the surround under the top of the bumper. Also look like I’ll need to cut the top of the surround for the bonnet latch as well. Anyone carried this out before? Any advice welcome

Well that looks really odd.

I've changed mine recently and I had too remove the bumper and loosen the front of the wings to get the old surround out and new one in.

Could you post a larger photo of the surround then I can see what your doing wrong?

Below is a a 2004 DB9 surround as yours doesn't look like one.

I bought a used one on line not realising the later model surround was so different to the early one. Got it in and looking fine now but it took a serious amount of trimming to get it to fit. The grill shape must be slightly different as well.
