Wind deflector
Discussion
I was delighted to see that the new steed came with a wind deflector, but folding in half it has defeated me.
The structure is locked in the unfolded position with a fixed bolt. If I raise the rear section of the deflector slightly the bolt head clears its housing, but then being slightly open you can't fold the deflector...

Short of risking breaking it I'm at a bit stumped. It's not in the manual and I can't find anything on YT. What's the trick please?

Ha yes, I thought that once the two panels were at right angles it wouldn't fold, but forgot that the vertical bit is flexible.
After brief struggle which reminded me of those origami open/close things we made at primary school, I had a folded wind defector. Hurrah!
I was then completely unable to UNfold it! For some time I was on the floor wrestling with the thing... first one bit would jam at a silly angle, then another bit... then I thought that perhaps attempting to fold it was probably a bad idea and I might have to live with. At this point a piece from 'Three Men in a Boat' came to mind...
'We beat it out flat; we beat it back square; we battered it into every form known to geometry – but we could not make a hole in it. Then George went at it, and knocked it into a shape, so strange, so weird, so unearthly in its wild hideousness, that he got frightened and threw away the mast. Then we all three sat round it on the grass and looked at it. There was one great dent across the top that had the appearance of a mocking grin, and it drove us furious, so that Harris rushed at the thing, and caught it up, and flung it far into the middle of the river, and as it sank we hurled our curses at it, and we got into the boat and rowed away from the spot, and never paused till we reached Maidenhead.'
It's a design that pushes three dimensions to the limit, and I think it can stay unfolded

You'll get used to it and it becomes second nature to fold it.
I think for normal use it can be in position over the rear seats, and just come out for shows. Fortunately it fits in the boot unfolded so I think it's OK staying like that. But thanks very much for posting the photos!Forums | Aston Martin | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
