Discussion
Don't think they are any different, the short answer appears to be, no.

There is an additional note at the end:-
I did this without jacking and wheel removal. I turned the steering wheel full lock left and only removed 3 wheel wheel liner retaining torx screws to gain access. One that is level with the repeater and the ones above and below that one. Tight squeeze but with your information on how it disconnects was able to do it by feel.

Removing the side repeter is the opposite of fitting ......push and twist, that is fine for fitting as the repeter housing will have no doubt been lubed up with a drop of washing up liquid.
The chances of removal this way are pretty slim as the unit will have collected a bit of dirt on the back side plus there is nothing, of the front lense to grip, plus the units have a tendencey to break (personal experience) as the plastic becomes very brittle, best go the wheel and liner off route. If I remember correctaly the wire to the repeter is a pretty snug length.
I am not familier with all the types of coulour lenses and whether or not the smoked units you refer to come as AM model specific. The very first fitment of the clear repeter unit was from a Ford Connect van, sutably modified, to take into account the extra thickness of the material that the wing is made of.

Side reperter is a push and twist friction fit.
I note the the supplier indicates the items are for metal wings/fenders which I belive the V8V does not have. The vendors compatibility chart for this item seem at odds, as for sure, all the road going DB9s have composite wings/fenders.
The units shown in this link have the much larger seating gap to cater for the thicker composite material wing/fender.

Not difficult to modify should you wish.
AML did mod a Ford unit for the earley production DB9s
