VH2 Vantage tyres
Discussion
Talking tyres in one of the Facebook groups which lead me to 'AI mode' on Google.
My car has almost new Michelin PS4 235/40 and 275/35, no complaints.
AI claims
"Many drivers choose to run the slightly wider 245/40 (front) and 285/35 (rear) sizes on the original 19-inch alloys for a more aggressive stance and improved grip."
Is this a thing on 2010 Sports Pack wheels, i.e these ones? I'm a couple of years off replacing them but always worth having extra rubber on the road.

The 245 and 285 combination, introduced on the 'S' and other sporty variants, then standardised across the range at 12.25MY, was accompanied with an increase of rear wheel width from 9.5" to 10"; the fronts remained unchanged at 8.5"
Images below are taken from an old Continental technical data document, but it'll still be largely applicable across all makes.

No problems with fronts

This shows that you can put 285/35 ZR19 on a 9.5" rim, but the recommended ETRTO fitment would be to use a 10"
And the headings for the columns, plus the ETRTO statement

As for AI "claims"? if an over-promoted, glorified autocomplete told me that tyres were black and round, I'd want to check.

Yeah it's a thing but not on those wheels. Your 2010 Sports Pack rims are 9J front and 10J rear. 245 on a 9J is fine, 285 on a 10J is fine too. People do it.My car has almost new Michelin PS4 235/40 and 275/35, no complaints.

But honestly you won't notice the difference on the road. PS4 in stock sizes already grips like mad on a Vantage. Going wider just adds cost, makes tramlining worse, and messes with speedo slightly. Stick with what works unless you're tracking it hard. The AI answer isn't wrong but it's forum willy waving not real world gain.
