I have an RX8 and i want to change the exhaust. going to change the backbox. is it worth changing the intermediate pipe cause they look the same. also if i change the next bit and put in a pipe without a CAT would it pass the CO2 test at MOTs.

With no CAT in place its unlikely that you will pass MOT. If the car has more than one CAT (like my STi) then you may be able to remove one and pass. Finally, make sure you are not looking at a resonator, which has nothing to do with emissions.

An RX-8 with a decat will not pass an MOT.

If your worried about emmisions and MOT then replace the cat with a sports cat and change the system to a free flowing cat back system.

Will free up some horses and still pass emmisions.

Just fit a full Borla or Racing Beat Cat Back.

I had a Borla and its a quality system which sounds awesome.

An RX8 without a cat pushes out so much unburnt fuel that it makes your eyes water if you stand behind it. Also, a de-cat and straight through system will make enough noise to wake the dead. Just put the cat back on mine after swapping it wo a de-cat whilst 'fault finding'.

I had a Racing Beat - the Borla has an amazing high rev scream, but was just too loud for me to inflict on my neighbours.
