The head of design at Mazda, Masashi Nakayama, has said that this stunner - which appeared the Tokyo motor show last year - should go into production. The powertrain is believed to provide the basis for future MX-5s.
“This concept is not just one of those empty show cars. It’s been designed with real intent to turn it into a production model in the not-so-distant future,” says Nakayama.
370hp, 1450kg, rotary-electric powertrain...

Fingers crossed...

I believe this is confirmed for production. This is such a perfect design that I can't see how this won't be a winner for Mazda.

I know the Honda Insight (hybrid) had a manual. I hope Mazda can do this as well--though I doubt it will happen.

We need more passion in our cars and the Mazda Iconic hits all the right marks.

And now I've seen renderings of the RX-9...Mazda, build the Iconic!

What do we think, lads, could it possibly be that the iconic will have a proper rotary that drives the wheels?!
