I've seen the Chevy small-block V8 transplant but are there any others that are feasible?

MR2 Turbo lump?
Audi 1.8T?

It would have to be something suited to front engine rear drive layout so both MR2 and TT would be out.

M3 might be good.

I'd like to see how a V8 fits, from memory the bay is very low and quite narrow as well.

I'd be looking how TVR got their engine into the sagaris. I could imagine there would be a few available at scrappies, but i'm not sure abut the reliability.

The f20c out the S2000 could fit, but i think it's a tad too long in the block.

Either that or just use the 13b, and put a calgon tablet in with each wash. Makes washing machines last longer according to the ad.

Though the 3S-G(T)E out of the MR2 was also used in front engined Toyotas like the Celicas, Altezzas (/IS200), etc. Its quite popular in FR guise in a few alternative cars down here, like old RWD Corollas, or the Fraser Clubman (and NZ-built Se7en rep).

Another good option could be the SR20DET 200SX motor if it will fit - good power stock and easily tweaked to 300+ bhp.

The 3SGTE was also the engine used in the very speedy Supra by Jun or Top Secret, one of that lot becuase it weighs less and could be positioned further back into the car than the 6 cylinder TT unit.

yes thats right, had forgotten about that. Nissan also ran an SR20DET in the 350z racers for a while as it could still easily meet the class power limits while making the car lighter and better balanced

There are loads of LSx conversion options available from the states. You can buy as much or as little and fab the rest yourself. Most complete kits include fron subframe and engine mounts, gearbox mounts and diff mounts. kits come with 6-speed box and altered prop. LS6 would be nice, pretty sure the SC doesn't fit well without a mass of work.

From some reports it doesn't destroy the balance nearly as much as you'd think - particularly if you go with the lighter LS's that have a lot of alloy bits.

For the cost of the conversion (even a modest one) you can have a nice 400rwhp with sublime cooling for premium reliability on the 13b. For slightly more money you can drop a 20b in for 500rwhp at ~0.9 bar boost...

I know where my money would go!
