Hi, i have always liked the Legacy GTB Twin Turbos, state in white colour, (Imports)

but never owned one, i have had subarus and evos

how good are they? like subarus? should i get one?

the one i am considering is a P reg, imported last year, only 57 on the clock, twin turbo, mint bodywork, Automatic

i have offered the guy £1300.

please give me some advice if they are good and reliable cars and is it worth to buy one?

Regards
Sam

Short version: they're great cars but don't buy an auto.

Oh, and yes, a Subaru is like a Subaru. Funny that.

Curioser and curioser.

£1300 seems too cheap for a relatively low mile GTB.

He does say

"i have offered the guy £1300."

Not it was up for £1300

If it were up for 2k and he offered 1300, it still seems cheap compared to other examples for sale at the moment.

I've had my GTB for just over a year now. I have spent a fortune on it but none of that spending was a result of breakdowns just wear and tear items and modifications.

Performance is great, handling is superb (especially after some polybushing), white is apparently the fastest colour and fuel consumption is... well if your worried about mpg then stay away.

The only criticism i have of the car is the twin turbo setup. The turbos run sequential and there is a gap of low boost whilst the turbos are changing over. Some people hate the car for this, others like myself have got used to it and possibly don't know any better.

Here's a pic of mine at JTS09.

That flat spot (commonly known as the valley of death or VOD) is much less of an issue with the 3rd-gen Legacy - you don't notice it in mine unless you're really looking for it, or drop the revs into that zone with a gearchange.

As far as fuel consumption goes, I average around 25-27mpg depending what mix of town/open road/fun and find 30-33 easy enough to achieve on a run while making good progress. Whether thats good or bad probably depends what you compare it to, but for the performance and practicality it offers I'm pretty happy.

30mpg is very impressive, the only time i've ever managed that is on a 100 mileish journey holding the speed at 60mph. Very boring but works wonders with the fuel economy.
