What has happened to the price of S13s?!!

I was just having a bit of a browse and there is nothing decent to be found for under £1-1.5k.

I remember buying mine a 4 years ago for £500, and it was in good condition.

How come certain cars seem to be having a huge jump in price? Is it purely down to drifting or have I missed something else?

Is this similar for most Japanese cars?

I found the same thing when I was helping a friend find a new car a few weeks ago, he had 2k to spend and we couldn’t find a single decent S13.

I think drifting does have a lot to answer for in culling their numbers, the more drifting gains popularity the more get crashed, also, once they enter the drifting fraternity, they don’t tend to return to road use, and when drifters do sell then they tend to go straight to other drifters. The cheap S13 bubble has defiantly burst and I think they’re now heading the way of the AE86.

Don’t forget to thank Mr Brown either, as the elderly gentleman who bought his 200sx as a retirement gift, only used it to go to church on Sunday and took it to Nissan for a full service every year, has probably traded it in for a Hyundai under the scrappage scheme.

I don’t think it’s the same for all Jap cars, my friend eventually managed to find a 1994 MR2 Turbo for £1800, so there’s stuff out there.
