hi there i wonder if you good pistonheaders could help me out.the windscreen in my celica {gen 6}has just cracked and like a fool i forgot to swap my insurance policy when it was up to fully comp.doh! so i'm not covered.
i decided to ring autoglass yesterday and was amazed when they told me it was going to cost 537 pounds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!has anybody else had to replace their windscreen on a celica before?does anybody know of a good but cheaper place in or near birmingham that could do it.failing that does anybody know how you take them out without cracking them because if i could get a 2nd hand 1 that would be cheaper me thinks.thnx in advance people

yikes How much were you quoted? That is a lot of money if correct. Try some breakers around B'ham or elsewhere. Have you tried TCB parts? PM Nix on Celica club to see if he can help. He may have one in. ALternatively look for salvage cars and parts via ebay.

Your best bet is Celica Club, Ebay, Breakers/salvage yards.

Have a look through your local yellow pages for windscreen replacement. Not had to replace my screen on my Gen 6 yet, but a few years ago I had to replace one on a Rover 820,was on TPTF not FC. Autoglass wanted £400, local company supplied & fitted for £100. and it came from the same supplier as Autoglass use.

They just rip off the customer as most of their work comes through insurance companies.
