Mazda 323 headlight problem

I have a friend with a '93 323 3dr that has an intermittent problem with his headlights. Sometimes they work fine, sometimes they just refuse to come on. Sidelights work fine. There's no pattern to it happening from what he can tell. He's had it checked in the garage a few times and it's always been "no fault found".

Anyone have any ideas/suggestions?

Could be the switch, especially if it's an intermittant problem. Also check the connections on the back of the headlamps, on the older versions they use to corrode and break up.

I've had a chance to take a look myself now and your latter suggestion seems the case - one of them appears to have welded itself to the bulb connectors...
